In his discussion of the vaccine recommendation document that HHS sent to congress, Dr. David Weinberg wrote, "To the best of my knowledge this is the only available statement elucidating the rationale for change in vaccine recommendations. It is a flawed and problematic document.
  • It is a very brief justification for a significant policy change
  • The reasoning is based on poor-quality sources that are not well suited to identifying or quantifying risk, such as VAERS and JADER.
  • A non-peer reviewed study is cited.
  • There is a rogue un-numbered, un-cited reference.
  • Decisions are informed by misinterpretation or misrepresentation of cited studies.
  • Higher quality studies better suited to identifying and quantifying risk are not acknowledged.
  • The benefits of the vaccines are not mentioned in assessing the public health implications of these decisions."
 
At Inside Medicine Jeremy Faust reported that Senator Bill Cassidy called for the ACIP vote to be posponed. CNN stated, "“Although the appointees to ACIP have scientific credentials, many do not have significant experience studying microbiology, epidemiology or immunology,” Cassidy wrote on X on Monday. “In particular, some lack experience studying new technologies such as mRNA vaccines, and may even have a preconceived bias against them.” He further said that the meeting should not take place when there is no permanent CDC director."

CNN reported on the ACIP: "The presenter, Lyn Redwood, is a nurse practitioner with experience in pediatrics and family medicine, according to a bioposted on Children’s Health Defense’s website, which notes she is president emerita of the organization. She previously served as president of the World Mercury Project in 2016, which “expanded its mission” two years later to become Children’s Health Defense, which was founded by current US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. The New York Times indicated that the panel is now down to seven members. The NYT wrote, "The Vaccine Integrity Project, a new initiative at the University of Minnesota to counter vaccine misinformation, noted in a blog post on Monday that, despite a widening measles outbreak, the committee’s agenda did not include a discussion of the benefits of measles vaccination, and that subject matter experts had not vetted the presentations. “These are clear signs,” the blog post said, “that the true intent of the meeting is to sow distrust about the safety of vaccines.”"

The Vaccine Integrity Project wrote, "In the 2023-24 season, the CDC estimates "that flu vaccination prevented 9.8 million flu-related illnesses, 4.8 million medical visits, 120,000 hospitalizations, and 7,900 deaths." Even so, in that same respiratory virus season, for example, more than 200 children died from flu, over 80% of whom were unvaccinated."

A presentation slated to be shared at this week’s meeting of vaccine advisers to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claimed that a study in animals suggested that use of the vaccine preservative thimerosal can have “long-term consequences in the brain.”
But the study doesn’t appear to exist.

IMO both safety and benefits should be weighed when considering vaccination programs; in other words the risks and the benefits should be weighed.

In its zeal to promote universal vaccination, @gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has neglected the key issue of vaccine safety. When vaccine safety issues have come before GAVI, it has treated them not as a patient health problem, but as a public relations problem.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, GAVI partnered with the World Health Organization to recommend best practices for social media companies to silence dissenting views and to stifle free speech and legitimate questions during that period.
GAVI should consider the best science available, even when that science contradicts established paradigms. It should define success not just in terms of the number of vaccines delivered, but on their rigorously measured overall impacts.
I call on GAVI to re-earn the public trust and to justify the $8 billion dollars that America has provided in funding since 2001. Until that happens the United States won’t contribute more to GAVI. Business as usual is over.

So she should be permanently stricken from any and all medical registers and be made stay at least ten miles away from any and all medical premises or venues where decisions affecting medicine take place.

Maybe? But she appears to have conflicts of interest which RFK jr. said he would eradicate from the ACIP so she should probably be stricken from that.
