You underestimate Trump. He's mocked a reporter with a congenital joint disorder and claimed McCain was not a war hero because he "got caught". Nothing is beneath this despicable excuse for a man.

Oh I don't doubt that, but it's extremely hard to pick on a decorated war hero without SERIOUSLY pissing a LOT of people off. Add in that she's a disabled vet and it gets worse. Trump would be biting off more than he could chew with that.

It's one thing to pick on a deceased soldier, or deride someone like John McCain simply because he was a P.O.W., but I would defy him to try it with someone who has VISIBLE results from her own bravery and heroism in the form of two artificial legs and often a wheelchair, and who didn't let that stop her from CONTINUING to actively serve in the military and then in public service as a Representative, then Senator.

You would think so. Any normal person would know better. But we are talking about Trump. And that man-child just ain't normal.

The Democrats just need a decent candidate who isn't called Clinton.

I think HC would have been an excellent president, but hey. As much as I hate dynastic politics she was streets ahead of the alternative.

Trump would have lost handily vs anyone in 2016 who wasn't called Hillary Clinton. I can't see him winning 2020 and I'd be very surprised to see the GOP poll well in the 2018 midterms.

Yes his base will vote for him, but they are just a vocal minority, he's pissing off too many people and he's going to wind up paying for it at the ballot box eventually.

If the Dems do find a charismatic candidate along the lines of Bill Clinton or Barack Obama then we're talking landslide.

I for one hope they do, as that will surely kill off the present crop of GOP Tea Party wingnuts and then some normality might resume.

I could see Duckworth running. Last reports I saw show her as not interested this time, however this is not a normal time. If enough Dems would work to convince her, that would change. I believe she would handily defeat Trump.

Tammy Duckworth? I don't think I have seen her saying more than a few words. Can you imagine Trump trying some disgusting nickname on a handicapped war hero? He'd say something stupid, like I prefer soldiers who don't get blown up. It's going to be a wide open field.

No effing way does Trump get reelected. He's gone January 20, 2001 at the latest. I see him getting his ass kicked in the next election or resigning before then or gagging on some KFC or having a heart attack.

As for Duckworth, I'll vote for her every day of the week, but you are being far too kind to the Trumpistas. They'll claim she's not a natural born citizen. They'll hate her for not being white. They'll say she's a Communist/Socialist/Buddhist/Muslim who hates America. They'll Swift-Boat the hell out of her. I want a hero who DIDN'T get wounded! Truth means NOTHING to these people. And I use that last word rather loosely.

As much as I like Joe Biden, he needed to be 10 years younger. Time to move on to someone younger.

Remember the details. Trump LOST the popular vote by 3 million votes. Flip 150K votes in 3 states and Hillary would be President. Trump won by driving down Clinton turnout in selected states, not by promoting himself. The GOP took 3 years of bogus investigations on emails and Ben Ghazzi to turn Hillary into the wicked witch. They will have 6 months at most this time.

There won't be voter apathy. It's going to be a wide open field and who gets nominated will make a huge difference. I also wouldn't be shocked to see a Kennedy running.

I'm not counting my chickens. But Trump is hated much much more than he is loved. And that idiot won't turn that around.

Yes, he did lose by 3 million votes which is the only thing keeping me from totally losing faith in my fellow Americans. But I still underestimated the amount of stupidity out there. Momma taught me better.

The upcoming elections will tell us a lot.

I'm not so sure. Maybe.

There are a lot of not so much stupid people but lazy and gullible is another question. How else do you explain religion? From an intellectual perspective, it is close to impossible to believe in the supernatural. Yet, it is the atheist that is the villified minority.

People don't read. They dont apply critical thought. Few of been taught logic and proper syllogisms. They aren't taught that it is ok to be wrong and that being wrong is only a step on the way to getting it right.

One of the things I am most thankful for in my education was debate. It taught me to look at both sides critically as we were required to argue either side in each event. As soon as you came up with a proposition, you played Devils advocate and attacked your own proposition to find the weaknesses. You learned how to spot the flaws and refine them.

I'm hoping the Democrats can make all those local elections about Trump and character. But sometimes people vote for the candidate, not necessarily the candidates party leader.
