The Trump Presidency

It's one of those even-broken-clocks-are-right-twice-a-day situations. I interpreted it to mean that Iran is reaping what it sows in principle, having backed terrorist organizations in the past.

Iran has a well established reputation for financing many violent organizations, more than a few of which I would classify as terrorist.

But I'm old... some of these go back to the 1980s. Is there a statute of limitations, especially considering that Iran is slowly but surely becoming one of the more progressive states over there.

That was a different time, then american politicians could back those bombing london and not face any serious consequences. Truck bombs? No big deal. Now that the darkies are doing it a little reckless driving and it is suddenly "why aren't they panicking, you are supposed to panic!"

a) Would you really argue that Trump isn't Republican in name only because he ran under the Republican name? Wouldn't you rather argue the opposite case - that he's a cuckoo in the nest of righteous Republicanism?

All republican presidents are RINO's other than Reagan. Maybe Lincoln too. You don't see them trotting out the Bush's as great republican leaders do you?

How is that different from the driver's license issued to me by Georgia being accepted in every other state?

It's different because there there are things legal in one state which are illegal in other states. Using a driving analogy, it's more like your Montana speed limits being accepted in Connecticut if you're driving on a Montana licence.

A question about that. If you have a licence from one state but are too young to drive in another state, which applies. Internationally it's quite clear, my 16 year old nephew was not entitled to drive in the UK even though he has a Colorado licence.

Lots of states have reciprocity with CCW, but they still get to have their own laws enforced. So you have to wear a motorcycle helmet in NY even if you are from New Hampshire.

As I typed it, flaws in my analogy kinda crept into my mind. "Motivated reasoning" at its finest!

The hodgepodge of firearms laws does put firearm holders at risk. Forget that Illinois and Virgina more stringent limitations on carrying a concealed weapon, and driving north that 9mm in the glove compartment that was perfectly legal in GA, TN, NC and KY is suddenly verboten when you cross into IL or VA- and a felony at that!

Consistent reciprocity would be a godsend to CCW holders, but I do see the state's rights implications.

So we need federal and not state firearms laws then. Of course that is anathema to gun owners.

Jeannente Rubin in the WAPO had the perfect heading for her comments on Comyn's Testimony.

"Who Will Rid Me Of This Troublesome Prelate"?

Except to compare Trump to Henry the Second is grossly unfair to Henry the Second.

Presumably you mean Jennifer Rubin. And I enjoy her columns on Trump (she is a Republican BTW). Haven't read this one yet, though I will.

Even some Conservative commentators are laughing at Fox News attempts to spin this in Trump's favor.

It was dudalb's covfefe moment, it seems. ;)

Slightly off topic, but The World Service interviewed a bar owner who had created a set of commemorative cocktails.

The "Covfefe" was a White Russian with coffee, and topped with a cheeto.

I can't remember what a Mike Flynn was
