The Trump Presidency: Part 29

It's only illegal if a Democrat does it. :(
That's why I prefaced it with "apparently". I mean, there it is written in the law. And it is hardly ambiguous. Nor is the evidence about the Trumps and Kushners self-dealing in extremis. Nor do I suspect they are the first ever to do this.

But this law has no teeth until someone actually has the gonads to apply it. And whoopsie! Bet it will be some poor little government operative who photocopied some Dem flyers on a government MFP.

Former president Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign commissioned an outside research firm in a bid to prove electoral-fraud claims but never released the findings, according to new Washington Post reporting.
Trump campaign paid to prove voter fraud but kept findings secret (MSNBC on YouTube, Feb 13, 2023)

It will make it more difficult for him to use ignorance to defend his Stop-the-Steal claims.

Once again, it only goes to show how adept the Democrats are at committing electoral fraud. They manage to get millions of fraudulent votes cast, in all states of the union, even those where the elections are run by Republicans, without leaving a scintilla of evidence. Truly they must be completely crooked to do this.

OTOH the Republicans' ham-fisted attempts to cast a handful of extra votes invariably get found which only goes to show how fundamentally honest they are.

Trump plans his next term.
The former president, if re-elected, is still committed to expanding the use of the federal death penalty and bringing back banned methods of execution, the sources say. He has even, one of the sources recounts, mused about televising footage of executions, including showing condemned prisoners in the final moments of their lives.

Specifically, Trump has talked about bringing back death by firing squad, by hanging, and, according to two of the sources, possibly even by guillotine. He has also, sources say, discussed group executions. Trump has floated these ideas while discussing planned campaign rhetoric and policy desires, as well as his disdain for President Biden’s approach to crime.

I think that was primarily to show his wife how much of a "manly man" he is. I have a feeling that his insecurity and Melania's growing indifference requires demonstrations like this, mainly to feed his own ego rather than for Melania.

Probably right. This is the guy, after all, who showed Russian diplomats classified materials that compromised undercover sources, simply because he was showing off. He's like a ten year old who has a couple of friends over after school while his parents are still at work and says, "Wanna see something cool? I know where my dad hides his gun!". That's the mentality with which he operates.

Not sure who said it or where I read it, but the argument is that you SHOULD televise executions, and make them gruesome. That is the quickest way to end capital punishment.

Right now, the public knows about executions in a non-visceral way.

Considering the level of violence in ordinary TV cop shows, not to mention movies, I suspect that could have the opposite effect. A certain percentage of the public would be demanding more.

And I'm sure he'd love to be the host, with the catch-phrase "You're expired!"

Once upon a time, a poster here -- not a MAGA type -- had the unmitigated, fact-challenged nerve to claim that Trump was a non-violent president. I'm not going to name names, but it would be refreshing if they conceded their BS was BS.

Weak person's idea of a tough guy; that picture of DiaperD in that link is sohh stupid.

He's PERSONALLY non-violent. As in he's too cowardly to commit violence himself and wants others to do it for him.

Was it the same person who claimed that the Supreme court revisiting Roe vs Wade was nothing big and everyone was being overly dramatic?
