Lindsey Graham is one tough hombre!

After Trump's announcement about withdrawing from Syria, Lindsey went nuclear. Then he had lunch with Trump. And now it's all peachy. Trump told him don't worry, it's just a pause.

And how's this for re-writing history...?

Is there anyone on Capitol Hill? I've seen nothing about Son Of NAFTA being passed. It was submitted so that the Republicans could confirm it during their majority but was Donnie so busy losing the battle for the wall that he missed the need to get it confirmed? Is anyone working on the 31st and there's a work-around to get it passed if half the body isn't in town?

It's not surprising that he blamed Obama. The GOP/Trump blame Obama for their hemorrhoids, fallen arches, and hangnails.

The problem with the lunch where Trump 'reassured' Graham is that Trump LIES. You know, as in NOT TELLING THE TRUTH; MAKING THINGS UP. He'll say anything to get Graham to support him. Besides, according to Trump, ISIS has already been defeated so why did he need to promise Graham "to destroy ISIS"?

I had no idea the U.S. still had 5,000 troops in Iraq. Trump didn't mention Iraq in his draw-down announcements.

He did say "larger"

But he is now going for slats. Of course slats have a few disadvantages (which is why Obama probably doesn't use that construction for his garden:

1. Someone already mentioned that skinny people can squeeze through. Alternatively if not braced at the top and maybe intermediately they can be jacked apart.

2. If braced horizontally at the top just throw a rope over, reach through, grab the end of the rope, secure the end and climb over.

3. On YouTube there are many videos showing how to climb steel poles and these are easily adapted to steel slats.

A wall would be better, but more expensive and tunnels would be used to get under.

It is scary...and also real. Evolution has shaped us so that tribalism is at the root of ourselves. Racism is tribalism based on ... well, race. The issue is how to ameliorate those instincts while trying to sustain a culture and society in the 21st century.

I have no answers but playing to these base instincts as Republicans have since Atwater's Southern Strategy is a prescription for disaster in the long run. I fear we are in the middle of that ongoing disaster right now.

If I wasn't an atheist, I'd shout, "God help us" but we're going to have to fix this mess by ourselves.
