The TikTok Flip-Flop

Being deliberately dense is not an admirable trait.
Going to the man instead of the argument is not an admirable approach to discussion and debate, which is why you agreed not to do that when you signed up here at ISF.
Remember when that jogging fitness app revealed secret military bases in foreign countries?
No, I really don't. If TikTok is tracking location and putting that data where the CCP can get it, that's a serious issue.

Well sometimes projecting ignorance to JAQ and gaslight is not really admirable either.

If you think it's obvious how collecting marketing data is a national security issue, just explain how.

No need to get bitchy about it.

Most things that collect data can be a national security issue. The fact is whenever you allow marketing data to be collected then what is considered "marketing data" can be expanded significantly. "We just need to collect what's on your clipboard so we can see what you're searching for" or "We just need access to your SMS\phone call data to see who you're calling...just so we know what stores you reach out to" and so on.

It's a slippery slope and if you value privacy (I don't, myself, I couldn't give a ◊◊◊◊ frankly) then you can end up giving away a lot more than you'd think.

"WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday that declares a deal being negotiated by the White House to sell TikTok's U.S. operations will meet requirements set out in a 2024 law, a White House source with knowledge of the matter said."

"Trump has credited TikTok, which has 170 million U.S. users, with helping him win re-election last year and has 15 million followers on his personal account. The White House also launched an official TikTok account last month."

Executive order, huh? No conflict of interest to worry about, huh?

What are the odds the Chinese will leave something in the code to make US Tik-Tok an unmanageable mess?
