The Terry Pratchett Thread

About three years ago I think, there was a book called something like, 'what is evolution?'. It was a larger, square-shaped hardback, with many photographs, coloured pages, etc and was aimed at younger people. I thought I was shown a paperback edition of this a few weeks ago in Waterstone's, but when I phoned today, they couldn't recall it.

Does anybody remember it, please?
As this is the Terry Pratchett thread, I assume you're referring to a book by (or partly by) him? The only one I can think of that even vaguely resembles your description is

Pixel42

Thank you for your help. I was evidently mistaken about the author of the book. So I have just tried in google 'richard Dawkins Science for youngsters' and it came up with a link to 'The Magic of Reality', and that must be the one I was thinking of.

I'm more optimistic about the planned Discworld Watch series after reading the following, thanks to the three letters I've bolded:

[Rhianna] will be a co-writer on the BBC Discworld series The Watch, news of which has had fans like me chewing their cheeks in excitement. Mine may never recover after hearing some particularly exciting casting details that I'm absolutely not allowed to tell you about.

Bit alarmed by the recent health scare though.

PTerry has cancelled his appearance at this year's UK Discworld convention:

Terry Pratchett, who announced his diagnosis with early onset Alzheimer's seven years ago, has pulled out of a Discworld convention later this summer, saying "the Embuggerance is finally catching up with me".

Pratchett made the announcement with what he described as "great reluctance" on the website of the International Discworld Convention, where he had been set to appear as guest of honour in Manchester in August. "I have been putting off writing this announcement for quite some time and on good days thought I wouldn't have to write it at all," wrote the author. "I am very sorry about this, but I have been dodging the effects of PCA and have been able to write for much longer than any of us ever thought possible, but now The Embuggerance is finally catching up with me, along with other age-related ailments."

Pratchett was referring, in the "embuggerance", to the memorable description he initially gave to his posterior cortical atrophy, a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's he announced he had been diagnosed with in late 2007.

He told fans on the Discworld convention website on Wednesday that "this is the first time ever that I have been unable to attend a UK convention and I really am very sorry".

I fear the trip to Dignitas in Switzerland will not be long delayed.

Finger in ears and 'la la la-ing'

He's fine and will keep writing books for me to read...
