Yes, folks! The Ted Cruz birther craze has been officially ignited (but not so much), thanks to the reigning champ of such causes: Donald Trump

This interview is hilarious. The first thing Trump does is claim that people (eg., Cruz) ripped off his slogan, "make America great again."

The Cruz is born in Canada problem comes up about a minute in. "If you know... when we all studied our history lessons... you're supposed to be born in this country."

But, overall it was weak tea. Trump spoke in terms of, "he's got a hurdle," "somebody could certainly look at it seriously." It doesn't seem like he's going to go all Taitz on his rival like he has on Obama. Me sad.

At least Cruz admits he was born in Canada, whereas Obama's entire family (except his 90 year-old grandmother) fabricated an elaborate conspiracy that he was born in Hawaii, even ginning up newspaper announcements. That's some Manchurian Candidate ****, and now we're paying for it as gets the government involved in healthcare while selling out Israel.

7 out of 10 for style. Could have been longer, but might have negatively affected quality. Sometimes keeping it short and simple works best.

Keep up the good work, Cain. Some day you might be good enough to go pro.

I assume he was born on a military base. Hold on, let me look it up ...

... Nope. Just had an American mother.

I suppose it wouldn't be sporting to hope that they crucify him.

This coming up election is going to be an embarrassment for all concerned, from all sides of the aisle

Edgar Allen?

They actually discussed this seriously on NPR yesterday when announcing the Cruz news. (Nice ring to that...Cruz News...)
Anyway....The Constitution apparently specifies "Natural Born" citizen. However, they did not bother to specify what that term means. So Cruz is indeed a citizen, but he was born in Canada.
One could argue that he was "natural born" in that he was not decanted from a test tube (so far as we know...) but does "natural born" mean "In the United States"?

This has actually been challenged in court a couple of times in history, but the courts decided that the plaintiffs had no "standing".... No one could be shown to have been harmed.

If you really want to elect a Republican president that wasn't born in the US, could you please make it Schwarzenegger?

My understanding of being "natural born" is that you were granted immediate US citizenship upon birth. This site argues that Cruz was entitled to US citizenship at birth:

There are a certain set of rules for those born after November 14, 1986, but I’m focusing on the rules at the time of Cruz’s birth, which are the rules that were in effect from December 24, 1952 – November 14, 1986. A person born abroad between those dates is a U.S. citizen upon birth if all of the following are true:

The person’s parents were married at the time of birth;
One of the person’s parents was a U.S. citizen when the person was born;
The citizen parent lived at least ten years in the United States before the child’s birth; and
A minimum of 5 of these 10 years in the United States were after the citizen parent’s 14th birthday.

By these very definitions of the law, it would appear that Cruz is a natural-born citizen and thus meets the qualifications to run for president if he decided to do so.

It's a fact that Cruz was a US citizen at birth, as was John McCain and George Bush and Abraham Lincoln. The only reason this is even being discussed is that a lot of people would not accept the same fact about Obama.

Weird. I wonder what the distinguishing factor was between all those...

Clearly, it was because Obama is a Democrat, amirite?

Hmm. I always thought one had to be physically born in the US to be president. Learn something new every day
