The Tea Party is Not Racist

It was a fictional letter from the head of the NAACP to Abe Lincoln, meant to be satirical. Does it say anywhere those are the views of Mark Williams?

I happen to agree with Williams in the sense that black people don't need the Democrats, NAACP or anyone else to hold their hands. There are many great black Americans, it only demeans them when it is implied they need special treatment.

Pulling out the race card ad nauseum is getting a little tired.

You told him! That was a great retort...er...nope, it's still shockingly racist. But he did ask you to try and you did try, so I guess you get an A for effort?

You do realize that racist satire doesn't get a pass for being satire, right?

"Oh look at at me! I'm a dumb monkey-screwing ******! Hoot Hoot Hoot!"

Isn't any less disgusting because I'm not actually black nor actually hold the view that I am.

The man is not a comedian, he is a politician, and racist satire has no place in politics whatsoever, period. It was on his blog, it clearly does represent his views, and if this type of rhetoric is what the Tea Party stands for, everyone involved in the Tea Party ought to reconsider whether or not this is the type of person they want representing them.

Blacks are American citizens with the same rights and privileges as any other citizens whether the Tea Party likes it or not. This country cannot afford to have shallow and bigoted people in positions of great power. If the Tea Party condones this type of "satire" from its high-ranking members, they would disenfranchise 12.8% of loyal, taxpaying Americans. If this attitude is acceptable in the Tea Party, then the Tea Party does not deserve to hold any elected offices in the United States. They simply aren't mature enough to be trusted with that kind of responsibility over the lives and rights of American citizens.

I ask again, as many other people who oppose the Tea Party do: Where was the Tea Party before we had a black president? Where was the concern for the deficit when George W. Bush was busy running it through the roof with wars and tax cuts for the rich? Remember, when Clinton left office, there was a $128 billion SURPLUS. By the time Bush left, there was a $482 billion DEFICIT. Where was the Tea Party when Bush was blowing $610 billion? Riddle me that.

It's an extremely poor satire. Also, there's the whole "blacks love the democrats because they get handouts, they're on the democrat plantation" stereotype, a message which is usually only employed by the likes of Jesse Lee Peterson or Star Parker - most white conservatives have more sense than to say that sort of thing in public.

(The charge that taxes are going up is also wrong, but that's not central to this discussion)

As it's been explained to me, there exists an arbitrary threshhold beyond which people will no longer tolerate government spending. It just so happens that "threshhold" for the Tea Party perfectly coincided with Obama taking office.

You know, usually "playing the race card" refers to manufacturing an element of racism in an issue that otherwise has nothing to do with race. It's funny to see someone use that term about something that is quite clearly about race.

Yeah, I am flummoxed by applecorped's reponse also. The Williams letter was clearly racist even considering it being satire. Inherent in the letter are various racist elements such as;

1. Blacks (who support the NAACP) don't like to work "for real".
2. Blacks (who support the NAACP) desire welfare
3. Blacks (who support the NAACP) are incapable of thinking for themselves and making decisions on their own
4. Blacks (who support the NAACP) don't want to compete in a level playing field for jobs

More like it coincided with Obama increased pace of deficit spending that Bush started.

Williams is pointing out the irony of a group that promotes the "advancement of colored people" accusing another group of being racist.
I have brought up the absurdity of a group that calls blacks "Colored People" hurling charges of racism. Whats more, each interviewer has defended that phrase and expressed surprise that I would consider that phrase to be racist!

It's not actually ironic, if you want to use, you know, English. They were formed to promote the advancement of "colored" people at a time when "colored" people couldn't legally use the same restaurant counter as you.

And as for deficit spending?

Even Greenspan understands.

But we digress. This isn't about the debt that Republicans created and the "base" ignored, it's about a Teabagger writing a racist letter after decrying being called a racist.

I hope that's not true, since it would mean that he lacked a basic awareness of US history.

The problem is Williams portrays the NAACP as supporting:

1. Blacks who don't like to work "for real".
2. Blacks who desire welfare
3. Blacks whom are incapable of thinking for themselves and making decisions on their own
4. Blacks who don't want to compete in a level playing field for jobs

There is a dash of racism seeping through Williams's assumptions there.

didn't one of the Tea-Leaders say that Muslims worship a monkey-God and that Muhammed was a predophile?

Thank god for the Mexicans!
And George Hamilton!

Taking the heat off the "blacks".

I anxiously await the all albino party.

Johnny Winters vs/ Ted Nugent.

(The "Noodge" has been making some noise about running for office.)

"They took our jobs!" (Matt and Trey)

"They want to take our guns!" (Deluded nut-jobs)

(Oddly enough, as I type this, National Guard helicopters are flying over my land, looking for pot plants. I want to call them, and tell them I don't have any...which I don't...to save tax-payer dollars. Somehow, i don't think they would believe me.)

They do this twice a year, every year. Its amazingly expensive for them to do this.
Can't help but wonder what the tea-bagging take is on this heavy-hand of big government?

Sorry about going off-topic here...but its true! Army choppers circling my farm! Hope they don't upset the turtles and frogs.
