I've been complaining for a while that it's almost impossible to get an appointment at my doctor's surgery, unless you don't mind waiting at least a week. Currently, they are so busy, they've set up daily drop-in clinics where you can go and see the emergency doctor if you are prepared to wait for a minimum of two hours in a packed waiting room. My last 3 appointments with them have been via this method.

Well, my sister's surgery has gone one better. It's so impossible to get an appointment, and they have so little money to improve services, the doctors have started giving diagnoses...

...over the phone.

:jaw-dropp

Someone explain to me again how much NHS money is spent on CAM?

So, you can either get an appointment inside a week, or can actually show up without an appointment and get to see your doctor within two hours and the government helps take care of the bills?

Give me your health care service now!

:-p

Feh, don't come around here with your "yours is crap but ours is none-existent" business, mister. How would you like it if I took something away that you'd always had, and yet somehow managed to charge you more for it at the same time?

I wept because I had no shoes, until I met man with no legs, who was charged $10,000 for the removal of right leg, but the doctors made a mistake and accidentally amptuated his left leg first, and his HMO won't pay.

Seriously though, your health care system could stand improvement, but if ours resembled yours, I'd kiss my congressmen.

teek - what bad Doctors you have - even mine when I lived in Battersea wasn't that bad! I suggest you start writing a lot of letters to the local trust and your MP.

Well we live 3 miles from the City Centre so I guess that has an effect - but we also live in one of the most affluent areas of Birmingham so it's kind of staggering that it's gotten to this state.

I agree with Darat. Sounds terrible. Some practises are better than others.

At mine you can see a doctor on the day if you get up early and phone - they re-assign cancelled appointments to people who phone up. If it's not urgent you can normally see a doctor within 48hrs.

Although I was unhappy with a recent change to their repeate prescription regime. Instead of a 24hr tournaround it's now 48hrs.

And we are talking about a busy practice within a busy city centre.

I even have an NHS dentist 1 street away - but that was a sheer fluke (I am certain of that).

That sounds ruder than perhaps you meant. :D

:o :o Oooops!
Can't believe I said that.
I take that statement back.

(please also ignore any emails you might receive from "BigboySuperstudD35" - they were not from me)
