The Senate and CTs

Jebuz, firecoins, can you share some of that stuff you're smokin'?

Can you state how the fact that Johnson has had a possible health problem "will ... reviatalive the 9/11 truth movement?"

Spun by whom?

if johnson dies or resigns the governor will appoint an interim successor (traditionally this would be someone close to the former senator, so that he/she can finish up any business johnson had open)

if the republican governor appoints a republican replacement the republicans will have a majority in the senate again

this will last a max of 90 days until an election can be help to elect a successor to finish out the term

if a republican wins then the election was certainly "stolen" (lol)

if a democrat wins the truther will find something else to harp on (this one more accepting of neocon agendas or whatever)

if johnson remains in office this whole this was a warning that he better tow the line for bush

[CTmode] Under the law, the appointee would finish the term of the Senator he was replacing. Johnson's term is up in 2008. Coincidence? You decide.. [/CTmode]

MSNBC on this story:

But it doesn't appear that he's going to resign. There's a tradition of Senators having to be carried out of their offices (see Carter Glass).

You posted six paragraphs. Five started with "If"

Not sure what I should learn from all of this iffyness. :)

It's not really a CT that a succesor appointed by the Governor finishes out the term. That's what happens when a Senator dies or resigns. I'd hate to be the governor who had to make that decision, it could cost him re-election if he makes the wrong call.

When it happened here in Minnesota in 2002 Gov. Ventura wasn't running for re-election, so appointed someone from his party to finish out Wellstone's remaining term (about two months). He claimed to have considered appointing a Dem., but was appalled by the memorial service that became a political rally, and went with a member of his party.

I'm now waiting for Pat Robertson to claim Johnson was struck down by God.

it depends on the state, i know north dakota holds an election within 90 days

another source i found said south dakota had a similar law, but could be wrong

The point being is how will the CTists spin the events to show 9/11 was an inside job done by the hated neo cons

The MSNBC story I linked to said the appointee would finish the term. Whether that's true under South Dakota state law (who reads up on that?), I don't know.

Either way, I'll bet our friends over at LC are already crowing about it.

Since it has been proven that space-based weapons brought down the World Trade Centers it is intuitively obvious to all those with at least two brain cells to rub together that the neocons, upset with the latest election, dialed down the potentiometer to reduce the strength of the weapon to one that could zap the veins in the senator's head and fortunately for us, they dialed the resistance down too much and the senator may live to cast another vote.

But what about the kinetic dampener?

It wont be long before some far right wing publication will be used by left wing extremists to prove that this Senator had a concrete brain for being a liberal.
