Surely you jest, There is a bad connotation (maybe even bigotted) from the term Teabagger and you know it.
The Teabaggers are angry becuase a colored man is in the White House.
Period.
Neither I nor most of the people I know consider "teabagger" to be wrong, most have no clue as to any alternative meaning and see it as simply a simplified way of referring to over-the-top ranters who follow the bizarro politics of the inapprorpriately self-named "Tea party."
Actually they are afraid because a colored man is in the white house.
Next a colored man is going to want to marry their daughter.
I believe most people who use it as a perjorative such as XBOX warrior do know the meaning.
Will most of the posters here admit they know what it means. I do believe some don't i would not have except for a TV show called prison break that had a character named Teabag.
Perhaps you could explain that one for me. I know a lot of people who got an education before the dept of education existed, it was created by Nixon.Ahh.. the Tea Party... all about fiscal responisibility and taxes....................................................................................................................................
And anti-abortion, creationism, destroying Social Security, undermining the VA, getting rid of the Dept of Education...........
Well, I have a bit more "earthy" connection to gutter slang and sexual perversion (I'm Catholic and served much of my adult life in the military), most of my daily encounters, however, deal with 60+yo, conservative professionals most of whom lack such social worldliness. Though several occassionally use the term, I'm quite sure that they picked it up from someone else without any realization of its other meanings. These are people that pale, fluster and become visibly uncomfortable when any curse word or hint of sexuality are overheard or enter the fringes of conversation.
Is there anything to tie this book to the Tea Party?
Perhaps you could explain that one for me. I know a lot of people who got an education before the dept of education existed, it was created by Nixon.
False on a number of fronts.
First, the department was created by the Department of Education Organization Act, which was signed by Jimmy Carter, not Nixon.
Second, the department existed well before then, only it was part of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare - the act that Carter signed merely split Education off into its own department (and the rest became Health & Human Services).
Third, even before then there was various Departments (and Offices) of Education going back as far as 1867.
False on a number of fronts simply dodges the question, doesn't it?
But thanks for the clarifications on trivia, misdirection, and misframing of the question posed.
False on a number of fronts simply dodges the quesion, doesn't it?
So, you don't now anyone who got an education before the dept of education existed.Perhaps you could explain that one for me. I know a lot of people who got an education before the dept of education existed, it was created by Nixon.
So why do we "need" it?
Just curious....the fact that it exists and has found many ways to justify it's existence does not mean that we "need" it.

Do you come to the same conclusion when people use the incorrect, "Democrat Party" term?
Or are you one of those crazy TeaBaggers?
Got it.Humans lived long before a small pox vaccination. So why do you "need" it?
Got it.
No answer.
That's basically what I figured would be the answers. But wouldn't it be smarter to think out the issue before arbitrary statements that only complete whackjobs would talk about eliminating the Dept of Education?
<For benefit of those in other countries whose education system is different>
Schools are ran by counties, which are a division of state government.
Just stating what should be obvious.
Apparently it's not.
NSBA primarily advocates for increases to two federal programs that are the largest sources of federal funding to school districts and also operate as mandates:
* Title I grants: the main source of federal funding for the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act
* IDEA grants: special education funding under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
Federal funding for elementary and secondary education programs has remained nearly flat from FY 2005 to FY 2007 because of a shift in budget priorities and a perpetual gridlock of recent Congressional appropriations processes.
