The root cause of Africa's problems?

Africa is unique in that the original population remained after colonialism and didn't benefit from the infrastructure and stability provided by the sustained presence of the European founder populations like in America or Canada.

Wait, wait, didn't we "conclude" that all cultures are equally good, and that the cause isn't genetic. How come then that European populations bring stability?

a guy from the culture that destroyed the world climate is trying to claim superiority, how utterly arrogant.

If by "culture" you mean "genus", then yeah, sure, except that we're all the same species, let alone genus. Humans and our ancestors have been altering the climate pretty much in the same direction for tens of thousands of years. The pace has accelerated in the recent two centuries, but it's far from a recent trend.

As for "destroying" the world climate, you're just being silly (or maybe on a hyperbole). I doubt we could "destroy" the world climate if we tried. Maybe if we used all our nuclear arsenal in one go, and even then it's very questionable if the climate would stay "destroyed" for much more than a few centuries.

Is your position that one nation's culture is neither inferior or superior to another's culture? Would you say the same thing about corporate culture? Is Monsanto's corporate culture neither inferior nor superior to other corporate cultures? What about cultural movements? Say Mahatma Gandhi's cultural movement compared with the KKK cultural movement in the states?

i dont think culture is superior of inferior. they are diffreent. some like it that way others like it another way.
your examples however are not cultures.

you better get urself informed then.

About what? Is there some new, unspoken of but widely accepted climate study that shows the Earth will look like the Moon within a hundred years? That's what "destroying climate" means, mind you. If so, show it to me. Or maybe it's that currently living humans aren't all the same species? I'm quite sure that would label you "beyond Nazi" without Godwin. Something else which I can't see? What is it?

That's something I agree with. That said, some cultures face problems that just don't pop up in other cultures. To say the culture bears no blame in such cases is just plain dumb. There is no inherent value judgment here, we aren't judging cultures as a whole.

How would you label them?

I didn't say European populations brought stability. I said the continued presence of the founder populations (that happen to be European) brings stability. And to answer why, it's simply because they built it and hence would be competent at propagating (and initially maintaining) it.

For a smooth cultural transition to happen from a tribal/hunter-gatherer society to a European-style industrial society, you'd need the continued presence of the bearers of the culture to be a stabilizing force in the cultural transition. I'd imagine after a complete transition the founder population need not be present for the nation to prosper. But that complete transition never happened.

I think it can be said that "all cultures aren't created equal" for better or for worse. Every culture has it's advantages and disadvantages. I don't think genes has anything to do with it.

about AGW, your 100 years and "like the moon" show that you lack even the basic knowledge about it. maybe you should read the AGW thread in the science section of this forum.

I want all countries to be rich and free like the West. <cue sinister music>

i want all people to live the life they want aslong they do not prevent other people from living the life they want or living at all.

The poor world wants to become rich like us. You don't want that because you believe we'll all die if they become affluent and start buying iphones and driving cars. If you're consistent you need to tell them they can't be rich or we'll die.

Dude! Get out of his head! Wow!

Scale?

US Foreign aid to continent of Africa in 2009 $6.6bn.

US Foreign aid to Israel alone in 2009 $2.4bn

Those figures do not include military aid.

http://www.usaid.gov/policy/budget/cbj2011/2011_CBJ_SummaryTables.pdf
FMF = Foreign Military Financing. So it is the military aid/grants, as in the pdf linked, which includes projects like the Arrow and in the past, THEL.

Which is the $2.4 bn number, 24% of which goes into the Israel-based arms industry which the US holds many joint patents in.

US economic aid, besides the drop in the bucket for education for Israeli Arabs and Jews (ie. Israeli Arab Scholarship program), has been phased out since 2006. The economic aid to Israel that should be referred to was in the beginning 2 decades of Israel's existence as a modern state. Enough to get it on its feets economically, the same which should be applied to industry in African countries, but on a much larger scale. Including individual donations, as with the case of US Jewry to those living in Israel, especially in the early 1950's-1960's.

Additionally, there's a few threads about this where discussion goes into detail about this specific subject, but its been crickets thusfar which goes to show how this very subject is misunderstood. So go there.

I know these individual donations and programs do exist to develop industry and education on the African continent, just not enough of it and spread too thin to do any real good. And additionally, sustained aid for long-term development.

Misunderstood the source data, thanks for clarifying.

I've no real interest in becoming mired in an "Israel Good v Israel Bad" thread, though  but it appears we are at least in partial agreement about the "scale" aspect of the disparity in aid between a continent and a single country.

Egypt cops a lot of cash as well!

No, you'll stop dodging and explain to me why Earths' climate is "destroyed". You can use a PM. No links and use own words please.

i hope they will be smarter than we were and not drive 1 ton cars with one person in it. but use alternative fuels or atleast fuel efficient cars. one can be rich and still ahve a reasonable CO2 footprint.

but our lack of commitment to do something against AGW shows that we are not that superior as you wich to believe.

oh dear, you really need to read up on AGW someday....
