The Robert Durst Murder case.

After reading up on this case, I am now convinced that when it comes to getting away with Murder..literally...the guy makes OJ Simpson look like a amateur.

He didn't murder anyone, he only dismembered him in self defense. ;)

In all seriousness, this guy has all the hallmarks of a classic psychopath. Right down to how he got caught (stealing a sandwich).

Oh sure, he's a pro at murder. But now that they've caught him with weed, he's goin' down!

He really does. Just finished the HBO doc though I was somewhat familiar with him already. Absolutely fascinating stuff. Hearing the jurors who acquitted his Galveston murder justify it 'cause he's just so likeable was pretty nauseating.

Would not be at all surprised if he wiggled his way out of this one too. Hell even if he did get convicted, he still had 35 years as a free man and not much more to live so he may as well have got away with it all.

With $500 dollars in his pocket, $37,000 and a gun in his car, along with the ID the victim. The victim being his next door neighbor in the Galveston hood where he lived as an old mute woman while on the lam from the murder of his former spokesperson.

I always wonder in these kinds of cases if the only reason why so many murderers are caught for stupid reasons is the fact that they are psychopaths, and lack self control, don't learn from mistakes, take risks, etc. This man has been discribed as very intelligent and bright, yet he left a his adress and name at the Black crime scene.

I haven't watched "The Jinx" since I'm not in the US, but watched another documentary about the case yesterday. It argued that Black and his brother, who worked in construction in New York, were involved in the disposal of Kathleen's body, which was the reason for the Black murder. The wife of the brother said that her husband was afraid for his life after Morris Black was murdered and investigators found 100.000$ in an account of the unemployed man.

Can't make this stuff up.

Just finished the series and that had to be the most satisfying television I have watched in a very long time. He is probably toast with the envelope but I wonder about the remarks in the bathroom. Do you have an expectation of privacy? Could he argue the mic had to be turned off when he went potty?

The Jinx was an amazing series. Durst is a textbook psycho/sociopath.
They almost had him in Galveston, but IMHO the D.A. messed up by not trying to get a conviction on a slightly lesser charge.
Durst has some of the best defense money can buy. It will be a fascinating trial.
I don't know if they will be able to get a conviction on the 'letter' evidence alone and it will certainly be argued that anything in the documentary will be inadmissible.
I can only hope and assume the prosecutors have more evidence or that someone new is coming forward with info.

...very glad they got him in New Orleans before he fled the country. I saw it reported on the news he was on his way to Cuba.

One thing I've learned from following the case is that the United States' legal system is just weird.

It was a great series.
And HBO seems to have another dynamite documentary coming up on March 29th with
"Going Clear' A two hour documentary on the Church of Scientology. It certainly the the COS upset, which is a good sign.
And, yes, it is based on the Lawrence Wright book of the same name. In fact, Wright co wrote and produced the special.
