The Rick Perry, Crash and Burn thread.

Some months ago, when Perry first started gaining serious attention and momentum, I had this sinking feeling of dread that he was going to get the nomination simply because he was another down-home, Jesus-invoking, gun-loving, swaggering Texan, which seemed to be what an alarming number of people wanted in their president. Some days you're glad to be wrong. Not that two of the three remotely viable remaining options are any less scary.
 
I think taking him as a serious contender was just reading entirely too much into opinion polls taken months before the first primary/caucus. I said pretty much that each time someone announced that the polls showed a new "frontrunner"--especially given that "don't know/no preference" was still leading the pack at the time.
