The return of the draft

So sponsoring a bill which one does not support is not bad faith legislation, or hypocrisy, but "making a political point"?

Yes. Grow up.

I went to the Guardian site to see if there was any response to my email. I found this:

The Guardian

It is the policy of the Guardian to correct significant errors as soon as possible....

In a column, page 7, G2, May 31, we said that "all young Americans are obliged to 'register for the draft'." We should have said "all young American men". Although proposals have been made to widen Selective Service registration to women, under current law only men aged 18-25 must register.

That's it. "All American men," not "the entire article was horsesh!t." Not exactly the retraction I was looking for.

How can all young American men be required to register for a draft when a draft doesn't exist? Do they mean that all young American men have to register somehow with the government so that if a draft is instituted then the government will have the info they need? And is it true that young American men have to register with the government? It's been so long since I was a young American man I can't even remember if I had to register with the government or not.

Yes, we all had to register with Selective Service.
