Which of the following declared and not-quite-declared candidates do you want to win the GOP nomination for 2012?

Democrats and Independents are welcome to take part in the poll, but don't vote the candidate you want to get nominated 'because it is easier for Obama to win against them'.

Since it is fairly clear that Barak Obama is the most qualified candidate in the general election, the choice for his opponent, as often is the case, depends on whether I want the candidate who would make the best president if Obama loses, or the candidate who is most likely to lose to Obama. In a way, Ron Paul looks pretty good on both counts. But I refuse to vote in any poll where the names of the voters are revealed because I don't want people later coming back and saying "but you support so-and-so". I believe in a secret ballot.

I put down Romney. This is because the only real way for the Republicans to get around his 'Romneycare' being basically the same as 'Obamacare' is to avoid it all together, so they can stop yelling about healthcare reform, slowly change the view of it as evil socialism, so they can stop yelling about healthcare reform, or say it's a 'state's thing', so they can stop yelling about healthcare reform.

I haven't seen a Republicon who thought like a grown-up for decades, so I put down the sickest whacktard who has a chance of winning the nomination.

Bolton hasn't made as many brain-dead statements in public as the rest.

So far, anyway.

You sound a little 'noid.

In any case, I voted for Cain. Not only do I enjoy using Cain & Abel "software", but this Cain guy used to manage some Burger Kings. In fact, he was so good at it, they let him be the CEO of a pizza company, Godfather's.

Now, I have never had a Godfather's pizza, not sure why...but he was so good at that, that he and some rich dudes, bought the Goddamn pizza company from Pillsbury.

Now, the real reason I voted for Cain, is because he's black. I would love to see the racist baggers run from the election booth in '12. "Excuse me, ya mean I have to chose between a Halfrican, and an African? Not today Jim Bob".

No matter who gets the nod on that list, Obama will be with us till '16, and for that I'll die in peace.

Peter Fitzgerald write in, not that he is running or even in politics anymore, but considering how his history relates to Obama's, it would be interesting.

For those that don't know, Fitzgerald is the only prominent Illinois politician to make a serious attempt to crack down on the state's rampant corruption in my lifetime. Naturally this led to the Republicans chasing him out of town, Obama won his Senate seat. In other words, most people would have never heard of Obama if Fitzgerald did not have so much integrity and/or the Illinois Republican Party were not so corrupt. Fortunately, Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation) is still around acting as a wrecking ball against corrupt politicians. Peter Fitzgerald only served one term but his work continues by some of his appointees.

Well, imo, the most electable in the General Election would probably be Romney (plus, he frightens me the least of anyone on the list), but unless Obama shoots himself in the foot before November 2012, no one on that list can beat him.

Now, now! My district is represented by Charlie Dent - a Repbulican - who has a very educated voting record. The man does his research before he casts his vote on the floor and he is very sensible. Another sensible republican is the guy who got the tea party lashing from the loud-mouth who wanted to see Barack Obama's birth certificate then proceeded to have the town hall attendees recite the pledge of allegiance. Yes, I'm talking about Mike Castle. I feel this guy got a bad deal and was a victim of misinformation. I have actually met Rep. Castle and he is a very well spoken, very educated and down to earth. Yet, even though the "I'm not a witch" witch beat him in the primaries it was great to see her lose in the midterm. BUH-Bye!

I can't believe Santorum is a name.

Santorum the name came before santorum the substance. It was anti-gay rhetoric (I believe that it was him comparing homosexuality and bestiality) which caused it to be named after him. By the way, what odds on Santorum being caught with a "wide stance" before the 2012 election?
