The Planned Parenthood Controversy

Doctor Tiller gets shot in both arms and is at WORK the next day...that's my kind of hero. They all need our support...unfortunately for Dr. Tiller...well, all I can do is support those still with us fighting hard to keep women safe and healthy. That's a big job in this INSANE climate.

There is not many abortion providers whom I would call a killer. He's one of them. Your hero is a killer.... Yuck.

I thought it was a great word too. Never heard of it until he used it. I think what he meant, in the context he used it, referring to Title X, was.

Someone made the point that Title X was not about abortion. It's about giving a group that gives abortion services money. Money not to be used for abortion services.....but money being fungible.. The bill is essentially a sham and is very much about abortion.

Well it depends. If you are prochoice.....I wouldn't say you support putting anything in a persons mouth.... But you do support the right of a person to rip apart another persons skull.

Only if you define a premature fetus that cannot survive outside the womb as being a person.

"Fungible" means that money can be replaced with other money. It's all the same stuff. Which means that you can't give money to someone for some purpose A and expect it to not affect spending on B. They can simply use the money you gave them to displace money they would have spent on A, so that they have more money available to spend on B.

I've said it before: look at their methods. Keep the poor as poor as feasible. Keep them breeding. Keep them ignorant: support ignorance in all its most pernicious forms, from school vouchers to "creation science". Keep them under the thumb of a religio-governmental authority which basically tells them they're damned if they protest.

What do you end up with?

Peasants. That's what the Republican Religious Right want: a tiny and largely heritable oligarchy of the rich, hand-in-glove with religious authority, and a population of illiterate, superstitious, obedient peasants, desperately grateful for a wage of room, board, and two suits of clothes in the year, as if this were the year 1011 rather than 2011.

Funny how you say this when Margaret Sanger, the woman credited for founding Planned Parenthood, did so with the thoughts of racial eugenics and exterminating all poor feeble minded individuals.

If I'm pro-choice and I force it down your throat, it doesn't change what you are allowed to do.

We're talking about using taxes to fund PP. So, in this case, "forcing pro-choice down my throat" means "forcing me to pay for the abortions of others".

Why shouldn't "boycotting abortion" be something I'm allowed to do?

You're legislating that our water only goes in the left side of the bucket, while they dip out of the right side of the bucket.
It's all the same bucket.
This is the same argument that stops religious schools for getting public funds for the "nonreligious part" of their teaching. It's understood that money doesn't work that way.

Only if you define a premature fetus that cannot survive outside the womb as being a person.

No it doesn't. I'm from Canada. Our abortion laws have no restrictions. Meaning if a women could find a provider willing to crush the skull on the way out of the birth canal of a healthy term fetus that poses no risk to the health of a mother, then a woman is perfectly within her rights to do so. I want to say that is a far fetched example, but after reading about that pennsylvania doctor, I'm sure it's happened. Basically, if that Pennsylvania doctor did what he did in Canada..... He'd be on a coin right now.

Most people are not truly pro life or prochoice. If it is a spectrum, I would be somewhere on the pro life side.
