Yes that was an old assumption, many of us here subscribed to.

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I'd be a little concerned if a major crime occurred and law enforcement didn't immediately secure anything that might potentially provide useful information about the crime.
It's pretty much standard practice to secure everything and then gradually eliminate anything that isn't useful, isn't it?
What about nerds that say they have not seen all the tapes, they want to see even the blank ones for proof,... thats why this can go around and around,.. it will never end, they will say wake up america, they showed us 10 or so tapes but what about the rest,...
Well crying about it on an internet forum won't get it done. Follow the FOIA and FOIA appeal process (including Court) and you'll get more reliable answers. It is a pain and it takes time, but sitting around bitching is certainly not going to make it happen.
