The New Biodiesel; Algae for High Yield Oil Production

PCB= The powers that be, the reason for this thread is to find out how to process algae before it is stopped for insurance reasons or what ever. If you are not worried you should be as we have plenty of oil and this war creating famine causing scam is artificial. I can see the day coming that you will need a inserted chip to even start your car. Anyway lets find out how we can do this on a small scale. By the way all cars after 1989 have a chip embedded in the chassis and here in Australia the roads are getting more and more sensors. A 12 volt wire loop connected to the phone lines. Yes I know not this thread, just trying to expose the need to get our own fuel supply.

For one the sensors are plain for all to see and they are not for switching lights. If phone connection is not near they have a solar panel and satellite hook up. Read about v-chip or mondex, already made (mon=money dex= hand)Home bio-diesel plants being raided and taken by the fire department. Do you want me to tell you about the birds and the bees also.?

Please, this has been a serious thread up til now. Let's not derail it with discussions of nebulous Powers That Be that will shut down biodiesel plants. If algae does not become a significant energy source, let us pretend that it is because of economic reasons.

If not now, later. Let me list some things made out of veggie oils: Plastics, epoxies, paints and varnishes, waxes,.... Latex from tree sap, begets rubber. My guess would be that if we are not making it out of plants now, it's because petro chemicals have been cheaper.

Yes. There are plans for miscellaneous byproducts of both the oil and the non-oil plant material.
 
Meadmaker is right, lets plead for some one with the know how to tell us how to process algae. I can pass info on old cooking oil and animal fat, but most of us know that. The left over black goop from bio is glycerine and potassium salts plus some unbroken fats, caustic soda and the odd dead mouse. The glycerine can be parted with phosphoric acid and I believe the soap mobs will buy it in large amounts, no doubt for peanuts. Any way as it is it is a crude hand cleaner and will turn into good fertilizer. Use it for our banana trees.

Do they use a lot of soap to wash peanuts? I guess the peanuts do grow in the dirt...

But glycerine has chemical energy too. I'm sure the refiners will figure out how to make a fuel out of it. Once they get into production, they'll have enough of it to do something with. I'd guess 15% glycerine?

Hmm, I wonder what the soap makers do currently with the excess bio-diesel from their glycerine manufacturing?

They sell it to Power companies, who burn it. Before people started using fry oil in diesels, power companies would use it to burn for fuel.

A little humor hurts no one," buy it for peanuts" Aussie expression for bloody cheap. Dove soap has a lot of glycerin in it. The soap makers are mainly in India and you are probably right ,perhaps they would take the diesel off ruther than turn it all into soap. Also some of the waste oil goes for pig feed, how bad is that as it becomes carcinogenic. White oil for fruit trees is only veg oil water and detergent also was once used in car radiators. A batch of 200 litre of old oil will have about 10 litres of glycerin in the waste.
 
Here's the latest news from Valcent . . . they're not as far along as I had hoped although their update is not inconsistent with anything said in the Bloomberg interview:

With respect to your questions:

1.) The current algae cultivation is being undertaken in a thirty panel bioreactor, a one hundred panel system is currently being constructed. The one hundred pane is roughly equivalent to one eight of an acre.

2.) Hard data was accumulated and analyzed from the thirty panel system over several 90 day operating cycles. The results demonstrated a algae biomass yield equal to approximately 33,000 gallon per acre per year. This thirty panel system was not designed to produce an optimized yield; the one hundred panel configuration is designed to optimize yield and should produce significantly higher results. We have approximately 12 months left in our program during which we will publish further yield results and, ultimately, production costs of the oil.

3.) Our operational, yield and IP data is not available to the public, except under NDA.

p.s. this response was from one of the technical directors at Sweet Water Capital (SWC is apparently Valcent's funding source and handles all investor related questions). Any questions sent to Valcent get intercepted by SWC (but at least Gerry Jardine presumably spends most of his time camped-out at the pilot project location). If you're serious about making a big investment and are willing to sign a NDA the raw data is available for review. For now I am still on the sidelines as far as making an investment.
 
Thanks Steve, been searching too, the little I could find is that the algae is pressed?? Seems it's a big secret no doubt encouraged by the oil powers. What we need to know is how to part it from the water then how process it to deisel. If one could get the oil out I would think it could be treated like veg. oil with caustic and methanol. Perhaps the pressed algae oil floats on the water----Don't know.
 
An engineer friend of mine was hired recently to evaluate the economic validity of large scale, high tech, high oil algae production.
As of now, its value is higher as livestock feed.
