Which translation are you using? it sounds faulty to me. Here is the Pickthall translation for verse 3.67

Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah) , and he was not of the idolaters.

Well, one book mentions stuff that older books also mention, or things that are readily observably by anyone, or vague poetic utterances that can be mangled until they vaguely describe real things, therefore this one book is the One True Word of God.
