Cont: The Marjorie Taylor Greene thread - Part II

emptyg epitomizes to me the type of person one of my teachers once described as being, "Clever but not smart." That there was (is) a big difference.

I don't think she's even clever. All she's doing is emulating Trump by making hyperbolic, unsupported, and inflammatory statements and lies.

Family values...

EXCLUSIVE: Embattled QAnon congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene 'openly cheated' on her husband of 25 years with a polyamorous tantric sex guru and then moved on to another affair with the manager at her gym

I'm sure that there is a completely reasonable explanation for this behavior. She is undoubtedly working under cover to expose the librul queer conspiracy that is trying to undermine True American Values.

Easy, see.

..."Clever but not smart."

I find Greene to be despicable but at the same time I don't underestimate her. She got herself elected to Congress. She's up for reelection and, despite the fact she accomplished absolutely zero during her first term, she's an odds-on favorite to be reelected. She is also among the top earners in Congress for donations. That's not my idea of a moron. But her actions and words demonstrate this is not a smart person. Instead, she seems calculating and clever.

I know the type. :(

If she and her husband are okay with it, it should be not news
Maybe. But this plus her propensity for guns and shooting stuff are indicative of her utter disdain for the sort of "American family values" she claims to represent in politics. She is happy to do what she wants to legislate to others they should not.

Put it this way: If a Democrat rival behaved the same way and word got out, she would have zero hesitation exploiting it at full Nazi throttle.

A better description: flaming ******* hypocrite.

I don't give a damn about her sex life, but the hypocrisy of her playing around while making politcal hay out of her being such a devout fundy Christian is astounding.

I agree. Below is Marj's description of herself from her Twitter page:
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 @RepMTG
Christian, Wife, Mother, and Congresswoman representing Georgia’s 14th District

She describes herself as a Christian wife but she's had a series of extramarital encounters. That's 'Christian'? Plus if she had been discreet about it -- instead of in-your-face brazen -- the stories probably wouldn't have gotten out.

Let's not forget, Greene has posted on social media about executing rival political figures.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a first-term Georgia Republican, repeatedly endorsed executing top Democratic politicians on social media before she was elected to Congress, including telling a follower who asked if they could hang former President Barack Obama that the “stage is being set.” New York Times story

I think the more we know about this dangerous person the better. :(

With a normal person and a normal district, I'd tend to agree with you. But in MTG's case, not so much.

She is a mini-Trump in a heavily pro-Trump part of rural Georgia. Just acting like him, being as abrasively and aggressively anti-Democrats as he is, and just making up scaremongering anti-Democrats lies is all it takes in that part of Georgia to get elected. District 14 has 8.4 times (75.4%) as many white people as people of color. Black people make up less than 9% and Hispanics just under 12% of the population. The median income is $10K less than the median income of the rest of the US with almost 14% living below the poverty line. Did not finish high school: 18%, finished high school: 33%, some college: 30%, Bachelor's: 12%, Post graduate: 7%. So, basically a rural, white, mostly high school educated group. Typical Trump country.

I think you misspelled "unacceptable".

I think you both misspelled "unsurprising".

Years ago, my dad's AF navigator was a Baptist who was always trying to get us 'heathens' to go to church. After he retired from the AF, he became a Baptist minister. Our families remained friends even though they stayed in TN and our family moved WA. He finally quit because he said he couldn't stand the hypocrisy any more of his congregation. He said they were the most 'un-Christian' people he'd ever met. All sweet and nice to your face but the most backstabbing, gossiping, vying for power and influence bunch he'd ever met.

Before a certain someone accuses me of attacking Christians, I'm only recounting the story of a family friend who was Baptist minister in the South.

As their moral shepard doesn't he bear some responsibility for his sheep straying?

What makes you think they hadn't 'strayed' well before he became the pastor?

Church members can behave exactly like politicians: they vie for power and influence within their church using a lot of the same methods...and they can be every bit as hypocritical.

True, but you can say that about any organization that involves human beings.

ANyway, MTG took on Kathy Griffith and got her butt kicked in the exchange.
MTG keeps on picking fights that are really above her league.

Trying to talk sense is a "fight that is above her league". What makes you think she is anything more than an offensive, noisy, mobile door-stop?

Oh, that is exactly what she is.
It is amusing, though to she her pick fights with people and then get crushed.

True...but it's especially egregious when people who claim to be "good Christians" do it. You know, all that "golden rule", "love thy neighbor", "turn the other cheeks", stuff the profess to believe.
