Woo-hoo! Third branch, no access except through a proxy server.

There was a guy posting over there as 'nicepants'. Never lost his cool, even when the stupids really, really needed a verbal blasting. He was always polite, never rose to their insults.

He's 'gone', too.

So, back to my badge. Anything special for getting a city library system banned?:D
 
I just got banned from the LC forum on my first post!

All I asked was if a frequent poster there (Quest) had any irrefutable evidence to satisfy his claims that WTC7 was a CD. I asked him not to point to Youtube or Google Video...but to offer up any irrefutable evidence.

That was it...and boom. Out on my arse.

Unbelievable.

They usually use to ban an IP instead an IP-Range. They
used to ban one of my providers access-points once because
my dynamic IP. Theoretically the libary shares the same IP
for all computers - so it may have been a classic ban.

But as usual - your Badge seems to be well earned since
you did nothing insulting but spreading logic and truth... :D

According to the info on the 'Userful' website, it appears that all terminals at one location share an IP addy. I can't see how all ten branches in the city could share the same IP, so it does appear that they've blocked a range.

I dunno for sure, I'm not too smart about this kinda stuff.

You can check the IP´s of these Computers using this Adress:

http://www.ipchicken.com/

If you see different IP numbers on different locations of
your library, they have banned the IP-range of your
library and probably other, innocent IP´s, too. :boggled:

Anyhoo I'm banned again, this time by IP.
The good news is it's a school network, so none of our kids can blunder into LC by mistake and get all disturbed by that guffage. (there - said it already :D )
In fact the filtering system is nationwide, I believe, so it's conceivable they've inadvertently protected every school kid in Britain. Yippee !!

reminds me of the investigation of those teens in Texas that pulled off the robbery of an armored car service. The dope left his pager there and the feds couldn't figure out what the multiple messages of 143 meant. they failed to realize it was his girlfriend who kept paging him with the "I love you" code as he was loading the armored car.

It's not a question of cookies, this system automatically clears 'em when your session finishes. That's why I'm suspecting it's IP related.
