PEOPLE; Volunteers on the street and in the phone banks in an election year for each 8-hour shift equal in value to $1000 (Yes, you read that right) in campaign donations by the rich old white men.

If you LAY DOWN and TAKE IT because of the Supreme Court ruling yesterday, you have conceded the election and conceded the country - FOREVER.

They are not going to allow us another fair election if they get their way this time.

So; Get on the phone or email TODAY and Volunteer.

YOU are the key.

If you stay home and simply vote, or worse, don't vote at all, you are the PROBLEM. SHUT THEM DOWN. DO IT.

And, as almost an afterthought; If you have money to donate, NOW is the time. Not later. Early money is like yeast in the dough.

I agree Ben, send money to the Illinois Democratic Party. Mike Madigan will spend it wisely, he always does.

But I think Ben Burch was really talking about getting Dems in control of other states and, indeed, the entire country. If we can do that those other states and the country can emulate the raging success we've had her in Illinois in over a decade of 100% Dem control, and thanks to gerrymandering we should be able to maintain this raging success for another decade. Just look at where Illinois is today thanks to Democratic control!

- 48th in unemployment rate (tied with Nevada, only Rhode Island is worse), in fact thanks to Democratic control we're one of just 2 states to show an increase in the unemployment rate last year.

- 47th in overall economic performance.

- 48th in job creation.

- 50th in public pension funding (we love public employee unions and promise them the moon, the sky, and the stars... we can't pay for this but it's the thought that counts).

- 11th in state and local tax burden, don't worry we're trending rapidly towards being #1, we were 21st just 6 years ago.

- worst credit rating of any US state, it's the same credit rating enjoyed by African economic powerhouse Botswana.

- 1st in number of local governments with taxing authority, nearly double that of the next highest state even though that state has triple the population. Vote Democrat and they'll create redundant layers of government to employ friends, family, cronies, and hangers-on.

This is why it's so important to vote Democrat early and often in November, and to send as much money as you can to the Democratic Party. And volunteer all your spare time, if you get noticed by the bosses you can work your way up to a cushy board job that pays 6 figures and a pension and only meets a few times a year to shuffle papers and rubber-stamp the recommendations of Party leaders.

This sounds like a lot of work. How will I be able to keep up with the search for Flight 370?

Aren't they also 1st in number of governors in prison?

The California Dems have plenty of wealthy donors in Silicon Valley and Hollywood. They don't need my money.

Yes! Of both parties too!

Illinois is corrupt. That goes back more than a century and it isn't a Democratic thing or a Republican thing. Unfortunately it's an Illinois thing and we all have to get over it!
Why would it be any different if the Dems gained as complete control nationally as they have in Illinois?

Btw, did you sign the maps or term limit petitions?

The key to the Democrats winning in 2014:

Running against George W Bush is old hat.
Run against the Koch Brothers TM instead.

But then, they are already doing that. :)

This was true up until the time when the Chicago Machine got their guy elected president.

Unfortunately it's an Illinois thing and we all have to get over it!

Get over it? How?

By pretending it doesn't matter and leaving it alone?

Different? Most likely. But I won't vouch for how good or bad it will be. Do you think the that the country would turn into Mississippi if Republicans gained as much control nationally as they have there?

BTW, I expect the Democrats to benefit from the Republicans attempting once again to stupid themselves to death. :D

Yea, this is pretty much how I plan on watching the Dems win.

By sitting there and allowing the Repubs to shoot themselves in the foot. Death, taxes, and conservative stupidity.

Well, if I could, I would motivate you to not sit it out. Phone banking you can do from your own home, if you like, and envelope stuffing and sign placement are fun activities where you will meet others in your community.

I think they'd try. After all, they're constantly trying to pass anti-abortion/personhood bills and bans on contraception at the Federal, just like in Mississippi.

Well, if you want to go by way of similarities, then let's ROCK!

Tom Corbett, Republican Governor here in the state of PA, is hell bent on no taxation for drilling into the Marcellus Shale formation. Meaning drill anywhere, anytime, bring in more companies to drill, cause traffic jams, deplete the roads, and keep fracturing rock formations especially in areas where there are slow land faults (i.e. Susquehanna County).

Drill baby drill.

Oh, speaking of drilling there are cement mines around my area where they keep digging and blasting causing occasional land slides and sinkholes throughout several communities and on a major highway. The solution for this? Dig up some more land and patch up where the sink holes MIGHT form. No discussion of terminating further mining. Where I live, there are several cement factories where mining is crucial to production. I wonder what will happen is several years if Mr. Tea Boy himself, Tom Corbett, keeps up his wonderful performance as governor.

BTW, the roads here in Pennsylvania are the worst they've ever been. It says on the PA state website that a pricey Transportation Bill has been signed. We'll see where that goes!

Good job, Tom Corbett! And even more excellent job Republicans!! Keep on DRILLIN'!!! :yahoo
