The "Jerusalem Post" and the Guardian

richardm -- I am sure you're totally incorrect by saying:

"Yes, the full-sized versions were yanked but the abiding objection was copyright."

When the images were originally removed, the main objection had nothing to do with copyright. At all. Only much later did that even become an excuse.
You can follow the episode of Ryokan's offering the in-line large versionsHERE on the Forum Management threads.

They were originally removed while the mods decided whether they should stay or not on the grounds that might be offensive. The abiding reason they stayed removed in their original state was because of copyright concerns - see here (your link was to the discussion about the removal). Whatever, they are viewable at this site now, as the page that has been reproduced widely elsewhere. I didn't want Shera to go away with the impression that they'd been replaced with the sort of useless gesture that a 2.5" reproduction would be.

Thanks Richardm & Webfusion, I don’t usually read the Forum management threads so I missed those discussions.

I read the two linked threads and I still disagree with the JREF decision -- but instead of derailing this thread I posted my response in the Forum management thread here.
