I just saw several tweets that said Judge Luttig should be played by William Shatner in the movie. So many that it's Trending.

Luttig spoke as a judge would write. He was boring and drawn out. Never said the country; always the "United States...of America". I guess he is widely respected; I did not see the Op-Ed he wrote (for the NY Times?).

Well, I hope she makes a fool of herself and takes the Fifth a lot.

This committee has been pretty smart so far. I would depose her behind closed doors first. I wouldn't give the seditionists an open mic on live TV.

Ha! My husband said the same thing in between Luttig getting out two words.
I baked a cake and decorated it before he finished a sentence.:D

After Day 3 of these hearings, it has become abundantly clear that everyone in the Trump admin, whether they were in favour of the scheme to overturn the election, or against it, KNEW that it was both unconstitutional and illegal. Pence did not have the power those in favour claimed - he never did have that power.

These facts are now just irrefutable! No wonder they went to Trump begging for pardons.

Pence must have been reaching out to GOP Leadership in the hope that they would lean on Trump to cut it out.
And they didn't.

I would really like to know who Pence talked to in the futile hope of recruiting allies.

From the Day 3 transcript, the final words of retired conservative judges of the Appellant Court

J. MICHAEL LUTTIG:

Mr. Chairman, I'm honored beyond words by your words. I was honored on January 6th, 2021, and also honored beyond words to have been able to come to the aid of Vice President Mike Pence. I prayed that day just like the vice president prayed that day. I believe we may have prayed the — the same prayer to the same God. I prayed that same prayer with my wife this morning before I came into these hearings.

I have written, as you said, Chairman Thompson, that today, almost two years after that fateful day in January 2021, that still Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy. That's not because of what happened on January 6th. It's because, to this very day, the former president, his allies, and supporters pledge that, in the presidential election of 2024, if the former president or his anointed successor as the Republican Party presidential candidate were to lose that election, that they would attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way that they attempted to overturn the 2020 election, but succeed in 2024 where they failed in 2020. I don't speak those words lightly.

I would have never spoken those words ever in my life, except that that's what the former president and his allies are telling us. As I said in that New York Times op-ed, wherein I was speaking about the Electoral Count Act of 1887, the former president and his allies are executing that blueprint for 2024 in open, in plain view of the American public.

I repeat, I would have never uttered one single one of those words unless the former president and his allies were candidly and proudly speaking those exact words to America. Chairman, thank you for the opportunity to appear here today for these proceedings.

Don't be fooled by his apparent slow speech and responses. He strikes me as very meticulous and bloody methodical. Behind that slowness lies a very sharp legal mind. I share his concern and fear. He has see what have seen - Trump and his supporters are already putting in place Trump Loyalists in key swing states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Arizona, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina, and Maine who will refuse to certify elections won by Democratic candidates.

Didn't I have a Conspiracy theory here that Trump and the GQP have Been Criminals for a very long time, even Mitt Romney was forced to bow a knee to Trump in 2012. A coup can only happen with Silence and Thoughtful planing, over decades, with the Full support of the states and the Military.
Trump is just the person who convinced the GQP he can pull it off, and they follow him, because no One wants their families first in line for the Firing Squads.

So what do we do when some Republican secretary of state in a state with a Republican legislature says, “I have my doubts about these two metropolitan counties so I’m not going to include them in the totals”?

In the past 6 years, Trump has never gone ten days without emphasizing that facts are irrelevant, subjective, and ignorable. And has taught his followers that argument by loudness is not a logical fallacy, but rather a profound way to recognize the truth. And has literally said that people should ignore what they read and hear and believe only what he says.

Therefore saying that “these facts are now just irrefutable” is meaningless to MAGAtarians.
How can we convince his blind followers that these relevant, objective, undeniable facts prove that Trump’s self-centered actions were unlawful and still are harmful?

A predictable result of the ongoing turmoil trump and his Republican enablers have unleashed on the United States, explained below in a quote from a Paul Waldman column published yesterday in the Washington Post.
A new Yahoo News-YouGov poll asked people whether America is becoming a more or less democratic country, and 58 percent — including 60 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of Republicans — said it is becoming less democratic. Even more alarming, 55 percent of Democrats and 53 percent of Republicans said it was likely that “America will cease to be a democracy in the future.” Post link (doesn't seem to be paywalled)

Someone, either the not-Republican candidate or citizens of the state, sue the state to get have the votes counted, it drags on past the conclusion of the election, and the Republican candidate is sworn in. Only later is the law suit resolved, by which time it is too late, I guess?

The claim that “Trump knew he lost the 2020 election” is the preposterous foundation of the #January6th hearings. So what if underlings TOLD him that? Trump didn’t BELIEVE them. If there’s one thing Trump was sure of—and still is—it’s that he won the 2020 election. (He did.)

And no wonder he didn't grant those particular pardons as it would have been incriminating. Drumpf always has ONLY his own gain or loss in mind, never the people around him regardless they stuck their necks out for him. And stuck their necks out and failed... definitely no pardons for those losers.
