ETA: Found it. She was asked if she called Pelosi a traitor and replied that it was speculation and she wasn't going to answer that but then said, "No. No, I haven’t said that," just before the lawyer asked for “plaintiff’s Exhibit 5, please.” She suddenly looks very agitated and says, “Oh, no, wait. Hold on, now," and then obviously tries to cover by claiming she meant Pelosi has violated her oath of office by not securing the border. The lawyer then played a video of MTG at a rally clearly calling Pelosi and traitor and should be executed for treason. After the video plays, she claims she can't recall saying that.

I wouldn't get too excited. Perjury is rarely prosecuted.

Yeah...but in the right wing echo chamber they would see her performance as a heroic stand against the left, liberal, communist, jihadi, paedophile demoncrats.

I don't disagree with this as a possible motivation for Cheney, I just think Scalise is probably more petty and power hungry. Just a gut feeling, not really based on anything.

No but if revenge is the motive then it is.

The problem is if Cheney was only interested in exposing McCarthy there would need to be a goal involved. Whoever would end up with McCarthy's Speaker job wouldn't be any better.

So besides revenge, what would Cheney gain from the leak(s)?

i think she understood by now that the GOP has to burn to the ground before she can swoop in like the phoenix to rebuild it from the ashes.
 
My hunch is that internally among Republican party leadership McCarthy's statements were already known, and that he already receved his dressing down and bent the knee to Trump. I don't expect an internal scandal from this at all.

The Gop, actually Believes, a man who said Osama Bin Laden was Innocent for 9/11/2001, and that the Navy Fired a Cruise Missle into the Pentagon Naval Annex, Killing Active Duty Navy Personnel, a man who said the Airplanes were Holograms, Told Robert Swan Mueller the Truth?
I wouldn't expect it to be rebuildable at all.
 
McCarthy is now lying about his lie that he never considered asking Trump to resign.
He is denying he ever asked Trump to resign which is not what any news media has ever claimed:
“My understanding is he was saying, ‘Did I ask President Trump to resign?' No, I never did, and that's what I was answering," McCarthy told reporters Monday in Eagle Pass, Texas, after touring the border with other Republicans.

Reports have not said that McCarthy definitively told Republicans that he would urge Trump to step down, only that he was thinking seriously about it.

McCarthy also said Monday that “I never did" tell GOP colleagues “that we're going to ask" Trump to resign.

The problem with this denial is that, before the tape was released of him doing so, he vehemently denied the Times report which only claimed that he had considered and discussed with some other GOP members that he was considering advising Trump to resign. If he had truly thought the reporters had asked if he had advised Trump to resign, he could have corrected the record then. He didn't. McCarthy proves once more he is a lying, Trump sycophant. I know....the shock of it.

Kind of like EmptyG claiming her words were taken out of context. It's a typical/common GOP gaslight. You didn't see/hear/read what you saw/heard/read.
