Funny thing is, wasn't I having a discussion with Avalon about just this type of mindset (in a totally different context mind you)?

Disabled kids are god's punishment
Western Prince William Del. Bob Marshall, R-13th, says disabled children are God’s punishment to women who have aborted their first pregnancy.

He made that statement last Thursday at a press conference to oppose state funding for Planned Parenthood.

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children,” said Marshall, a Republican.

I don't mind these idiots having these views per se, but when they start making laws that can affect us all, we have a problem...

The Poison Womb! Lordy, I thought that mythos died out a hundred years ago. Next he'll say that criminality is heritable and can be detected by phrenology.

I keep repeating it . People call me crazy when I say that there is an American Taliban And I don't mean John walker who want to take us in the same direction as the ones over in the middle east. While the middle aest ones re far more free wih using their guns, the ones over here have far more political strength.

God's punishment? The guy says "nature".

Still stupid and wrong, but not quite what the headline makes it out to be.

While it may appear that way from the cited material, the story at the link also quotes him as saying “In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”

The next sentence out of this genius' mouth: “In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”

Dean Nelson, executive director of the Network of Politically Active Christians, Nelson suggested that the organization be called “Klan Parenthood,” saying that the group’s founder, Margaret Sanger, made racist comments in the 1930s and that the organization has shown a “willingness to take donations from people who are racist.”

I... but... if...

I have a disabled kid, and I've never had an abortion. Why did god punish my son?

Deuteronomy 5:9
for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

Basically, it's because God is a vengeful dick.

I was confused too, but it means Bob Marshall is the Delegate for Western Prince William county.

By the bye, his wife on this site claims he was misquoted by a student journalist.

If one claims that one was misquoted in a televised press conference (even one three years ago), then wouldn't the thing to do be get a copy of the televised press conference and show it to one's detractors? Even if the TV stations do not have it, wouldn't an elected official keep copies of these press conferences to avoid this exact situation?

I'm not defending him, just reporting what I saw on the site.
