yup, it must be difficult convincing someone with an addictive personality whos already an alcoholic and also a drug addict that you have a better drug called Jesus, thats freely available in every town on every sunday, who's blood magically turns into red wine.
Any idea how many ex christians have become drug addicts and alcoholics, obviously I'm not mentioning violence because any human attempt pales in comparison to your God.

The idea of human depravity seems to loom large in those who aggressively push the great commission. They seem to have to convince those of us who have some misguided sense that we aren't such terrible people, that we really are absolute wertches in the Augustinain sense and in dire need of God's saving grace.

Does this mean you see humans as Augustine did, depraved to the point where they couldn't even respond positively to God's offer of grace unless he had already chosen them? Or do you see humans as basically good, but estranged from God, and able to choose to accept or reject God's offer of grace?
 
Genuine Christians believe that they are trying to save you from eternal damnation. The fact that you don't want to be saved isn't the point.

If you found someone trying to jump off a building and you grabbed their leg, and they demanded that you let them plummet to their death, would you let go of them? Or would you try and pull them up despite there protestations and struggling.
That's what believe they're doing. Trying to save your soul.

Having said that the repent or burn brigade just seem to enjoy damning you.
In fact they don't even really want you to repent, they just want you to burn.
