The Gospel

Well maybe if you let yourself think about it, you would realize there is more you believe in scripture than you realize. One good example is what I perceived you just said...Do unto others as you would have done unto you!
And believe me someday you will meet your maker and know the way you judged others is the way you will be judged.

So if I'm a masochist who likes to have my balls nailed to a cross, and a cactus shoved up my butt, I should do that to others?

Or maybe you should just take your cliches, your tripe, your garbage, and shove them up your butt?

And believe me someday you will meet your maker and know the way you judged others is the way you will be judged.

Ah. Then Genesius (and most of the regulars) will be judged with compassion and fairness, by a Maker who will listen and try to understand them.

You will be judged by an irrational immature tyrant, randomly quoting scripture left and right and asking the same damn questions over and over: "Why didn't you believe in me? Why did you find my Gospel offensive?" And nothing you say will make one bit of difference.

we've been through the golden rule earlier, it appears to be universal, does that mean that religions that use it conform to Gods wishes?

God: "Well, this a well-worded and convincing argument..."

UrsulaV: "Yay!"

God: "But I notice several grammatical errors and a misspelling."

UrsulaV: "Crap!"

God: "Drop and give me fifty for each typo! Then and only then may you enter the Forum of Heaven."

This is where I strongly disagree with you. Paul received revelation from Christ which broought him from darkness to light. Spirit filled believers aren't able to make up those kinds of stories. Paul truely was the 12th Apostle. If you don't want to believe it, I would say you have a problem. God's word is true and the sooner people quit denying it the better!

I have a problem? Maybe you'd like to show some evidence for some of your assertations. Your faith apparently includes as god's word the writings of Dante and 18th and 19th century preachers. You don't know what is and isn't in the bible, but by god whatever some nutcase preacher tells your or writes in a book is the truth.

You make a statement and are asked, for once, to back it up with biblical references and you can't. Everybody else gives biblical references and you disagree with them. You don't have faith, you've been brainwashed.

Paul was probably a direct ancestor of Benny Hinn and Jerry Falwell. He was a master smooth talker, telling people what they wanted to hear. He'd have been a TV preacher, a used car salesman or an infomercial host if he had been born in our time.

Christianity died when it was overtaken by "Paulianity". Paul never consulted the apostles who knew Jesus, never studied Jesus' teachings or life and even regularly contradicted the apostles who lived with Jesus on details of his life. Hell, PAul regularly contradicted his own writings and words.

Paul taught things from the Hellenistic mystery religions of his native Tarsus. Quite interesting that Christ revealed features of the religions of Paul's youth to him as features of Christianity.

Also interesting that Jesus' brother James apparently got it wrong and that his Jerusalem Church, which was based on Jesus' teachings while on earth was overcome by Pauline Christianity. You'd think Jesus would have made sure his disciples got it right!

If you believe this load of crap, you are the one with problems.

If all the purported followers of Christ actually did so, the economy would collapse.

We'd all be poorer. But there would probably be no wars, or terrorism.

Discuss. :)

How can I follow Him when I can't even see Him?

<clatter clatter>

Ed d*mmit, I haven't made a tracking proficiency roll all day!

[/D&D geek mode]

If they all really followed him, they wouldn't be around anymore and there would be a shortage of good timber.

Cute, but a pretty shallow comment on a 2000-y-o tradition.

In terms of ethics and values, there's no one around today, save perhaps the Dalai Lama, who can demonstrate true loving kindness in any practical way.

Oh, come now, there's nobody in the public eye, maybe, but that's hardly the same as "no one around." There's probably a fair number of people quietly demonstrating true loving kindness that, lacking video cameras following them around, we don't know about. After all, nowhere in practical true loving kindness is included "and telling everybody about it."

Actually, I'm thinking we'd all be richer. There'd be no televangelists, faith healers, scaremongers, dumb chotchkes distributors or other scammers to suck money out of gullible sheep, who would then spend it on themselves, their loved ones, or worthwhile charities. Some industries would collapse, sure (no more Patron Saint customizable rosaries!) But not the important ones.

I like the way this writer puts it...
Religion can never satisfy God. Religion is mans attempt to make himself right with God, but any such attempt is futile because even man's best efforts are flawed and so are unacceptable to God. Taken from John Blanchard's book"Ultimate Questions"

He goes on to say the Bible could not be clearer: all our righteous acts are like filthy rags. God demands perfection; religion fails to meet the demand.
Religion can never remove sin. Your virtues can never cancel out your vices. Good deeds can never cancel out bad ones. If a person gets right with God it is not by works, so that no one can boast.

Religion can never change man's sinful nature. A persons behaviour is not the problem, only the symptom. The heart of a man's problem is the problem of man's heart, and by nature man's heart is corrupt and depraved.

Some religious activities are good, like going to church, reading the Bible and praying because God tells us to do these things. But we dare not rely on them to make us right with God.

But all humans are imperfect, so God's demands are impossible to meet. Pretty lousy excuse for a God if he sets demands no one can ever acheive.

God should just take a couple Valium and kick back for awhile. He's not doing Himself any favors by stressing Himself out.

...Can't .... resist .... must .... respond....

SOOOOO, if you're god hadn't decided to have you converted by (pick one, as you have stated all three of these as being THE manner in which you found the Lord and have not yet, despite repeated requests, picked one..)

1. An almost fatal car accident
2. A crank addiction
3. Being beaten to a pulp by some guy you were boinking when separated from ChristianDude, your husband

through no fault of your own, as you were created flawed and sinful by your loving god, you would be cast into Hell to burn eternally.

And you have stated repeatedly that NOTHING man does can result in their being saved, the act of salvation only comes from god.

I just can't imagine how much therapy you need.
