The Gospel

AS I go to my Biblegateway and read the verse of the day it reminds me how it is really meant to be...

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time.

What excactly is so hard for people to understand?

Words written by a man to describe an untestable, unprovable, impossible to know fictional deity.

What exactly is so hard for you to understand?

If God is love, then why do so many people fight him?

What a craptastic non-sequiter.

If God is love, what need is there for a religion?

ETA:

I am not fighting "God." It is impossible to fight something that I don't believe exists. What is so hard for you to understand about that?

I challenge you to go to www . skepticsannotatedbible . com and reread your whole bible. It might open your eyes to some inconsistencies, if you happen to be a biblical literalist.

Why did you quote me when you didn't even answer a single point I raised in that quote?

Out of respect for you, I won't do the same.

What exactly is so hard for people to understand is that God punishes mankind for being exactly the way He created us to be, and then kills either Himself or his innocent son, or both, to pay for a price He Himself set too high for any one person to pay himself so that those who want to believe that God acts this way will have eternal reward and those who don't understand or are unaware of this mechanism will be tortured for eternity.

Also, what you quoted me was in reference to your post about Tommy, in case you missed it. I'm trying to address what you say in your post and respond to the content within that post. All I ask is the same consideration.

Don't count on her doing that.

Since you ask, the difference between your post and this one:

AS I go to my Qur'aangateway and read the verse of the day it reminds me how it is really meant to be...

There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.

I think it's more about we all need a way to be reconciled with God. It's not about religion but relationship!

Hey FS did you happen to see the 700 club last Friday. Ex Heroin addict/ Muslim accepts Christ and gets set free from false religion and addiction. Incredible testimony, I hope you saw it.

I also enjoyed seeing the ex-stripper who came to faith and now has a ministry trying to reach some of those women still trapped in the terrible trap and lifestyle! She was on last Friday as well.

Whether you guys admit it or not, God changes people and turns lives around. Amazing grace and love!

Okay, how about this e-mail I received today from my mom. It was forwarded to her from Rev. John Powell

Rev. John Powell, a professor at Loyola University
in Chicago, writes about Tommy, a student in his
Theology of Faith class:
This glurge is copied word for word from a site like this.

And it says essentially, "God may or may not help you out. You're supposed to be grateful whatever happens." That is the biggest load of caca I've ever heard.

If God is as you describe him Kathy, he is a total a-hole. Fortunately, there is almost certainly no such cruel entity out there so your scary stories are just that. Stories.

Or ...

I think it's more about we all need a way to be reconciled with Allah. It's not about religion but relationship!

Accepting any religion can change a life. Sometimes for the better. Obviously since this cannot justify all religions (they're mutually contradictory) it cannot be used to justify yours in particular.

I think you're missing the point. There is nothing to be reconciled with. You have yet to provide any evidence of God (hint: the bible is not evidence, that's circular logic in defense of God.)

Buy key Kathy: Thanks for providing more evidence that you don't read a thing anyone posts and you cherry pick your responses. I have told you before I don't watch Pat Robertson's bigoted hate filled crap. What is so hard about that for you to understand?

Tommy

(all nonsense, hearsay and blather removed)

This is a true story and is not enhanced for publicity purposes.

With thanks,

Rev. John Powell, Professor Loyola University in Chicago

Hmmm... It's just a wild guess on my part, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that this is the same Rev. John Powell who was forced to retire from his poisition at Loyola after a lawsuit was filed by four women claiming that he molested them?

Unfortunately, the story is from 9/8/2003 and I can't seem to find any followup to it. If anyone knows the outcome of this lawsuit, would they please post it here?

Alas, Snopes has nothing about this claptrap, but I'd also bet dollars to doughnuts that it either never happened or the truth is quite different from the story.

If is is true, which I severely doubt, I'm glad Tommy had some peace before he died. But it doesn't change the fact that he is dead forever, not in some mystical happy place, and that the rest of us will be too.

Let me get this straight, Kathy quoted a molesting preist as support for her preaching?

Yeah, that's about on par.

Way to go kathy. You're making it easier for us to show you for the idiot you are.

Like Kathy was suppose to know the guy was accused of molestation? Rather than calling people "idiot", just let a person's words speak for themselves. There really is no need for naming calling.

Saved from drug addiction --- by Allah

DESPITE ALL THE NEGITIVE SURROUNDING HER, ALHAMDULLILAH FROM THAT MOMENT ON Zuhairah and the counsellor embarked on a journey together. Zuhairah turned to Allah with Hope! Repentance! Remorse and regret and a firm intention to succeed and to change her life, with the small goals in front of her. Week after week she fridge from “the shelter” to the counsellor, each time with a broader smile and a confidence in building an identity as a Muslim. In the process she discussed her body spasms reacting to cravings and her firm intention never to turn back seeking solace with Allah Ta’ala. She opened up to her fears and her experiences to come to terms and close a major chapter in her life. Through her endeavours she beautifully recognised the Mercies of Allah descending on her, in her heart, with her child and friends to such an extent that two others in the shelter took interest in her change and accepted Islam.

A Christian counsellor who had assessed her gave an initial report that she won’t survive, there is only a 2% success rate but not in her condition. This counsellor thereafter stunned at her progress started querying about Islam and encourages ISLAMIC COUNSELLING.

We come to the end with Zuhairah’s surprising letter to us in her own words. We publish it as a means of encouragement to others - that there IS HOPE, and it all takes but just to turn to our Magnificent, Kind, Beautiful Creator with sincerity and make the efforts to change with a genuine deep hearted firm intention.

Any "idiot" (like me) could have found this out by Googling his name (like I did). People who spew glurge are idiots. Period.

Sorry, but kumar has demonstrated time and again that if you are going to quote a source to support, you'd best have at least taken a quick google about your source.

There is no need for kathy to continue to preach that a cancer patient is to blame for their cancer because of some row with God, but she does. Repeatedly. I count this as at least the 5th or 6th time I have read it.
