The Gospel

My cat (George) bites my hand if I give him the wrong treats. Or he bites my shoulder if I walk by him while he's on the counter when he would rather I not be walking by him. Or he bites my arm if I'm asleep and he would rather I be awake so he can ignore me.

He looks regal but really he's a bit of a hillbilly. However he is real, just like your cat, and many other awesome cats around the globe.

I still prefer the little hillbilly to KK's jerk god.

And by the way KK, quit calling me a sheep!

What possible reason do we have to extend you this courtesy, when you refuse to extend it yourself?

If something truly is a matter of courtesy, then arguably courtesy itself demands that it be done; this is true even - and perhaps especially - if the gesture is unilateral rather than reciprocal. That, at any rate, is part of my understanding of the notion of courteousness. More importantly, however, when did entertaining the possibility that one's current ideas might be wrong become merely a conditional reciprocal gesture? If that's what we've come to, it bodes ill for the project of critical thinking generally.

When a fundamentalist preacher shows up.

I'm happy to be open-minded, right up until somebody starts blathering that they couldn't possibly be wrong and waving Jesus at me. Then I get all snide and snippy and uninclined to do anything at all to help them press their point of view, particularly when I get an opportunity to point out that what they're asking for is hypocritical.

That undoubtedly makes me a terrible person and lousy critical thinker, but y'know, I'm comfortable with that.

Cool. Where did you hear this? I'll be on the look out tonight.
Well last week in my womans bible study group one of my favorite teachers, Beth Moore was sharing it with the group.
I was watching an ex-muslim now turned Christian preacher on TV even last night but I'll have to get back to you with his name. I think I saw him on DSTR or the Church satellite channels. He was pretty good! Wish I would have written his name down. It's always incredible to see how God moves throughout all people from all different backrounds and upbringing.

I have heard God has been using dreams with the Muslim people to help open their eyes up to the one true God.

Well, last night, I had a dream that Fred Dalton Thompson and I were discussing strategies for conducting aerial strikes in Iran. And Robocop was my body guard.

I didn't see Jesus. Will continue to be on the lookout.

I think you watch lots of TV. Anyways...the dreams that were spoken of from God that these people would see and believe in Christ and they were not to fear. It seems many Muslims are still putting people to death when they come to faith in Christ which is a really bad thing. Have you ever seen the movie Behind The Sun? It's based on a true story!!

KK, what the heck did that last post mean?

Bluess,

Let me translate:

"I am a foaming at the mouth Christian Fundamentalist, and I don't care how many times I am made to look like an idiot, I will make ◊◊◊◊ up as much as possible so as to win arguments in my head. Whether I actually make any sense to rational humans is irrelevant because I am scoring points for JC. So here's some made up ◊◊◊◊ for you dumb and mean athiests to read:

BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAHRAH. You should love CHRIST!!!!!!"

Let me know if my translator can be of help in the future.

Yours,

fowlsound.

I am calling "bullsh*t"

Kindly furnish sources showing that God is using dreams to bring muslims to Christ and that when they do come to Christ they are still killing people.

Otherwise, I am just convinced you're making this crap up now.

Your translator seems to have a bug in it that generates invective. Try running the Membership Agreement guidelines through the translator and see if what comes out is understandable.

It seemed to me that when Kathy said "It seems many Muslims are still putting people to death when they come to faith in Christ", she meant to suggest that Muslims were putting to death people who had come to faith in Christ, i.e. that converts to Christianity were at risk of being killed by Muslims. Perhaps she can clarify.

Please tell me what rule/guideline I have violated. If you have a problem, feel free to report that post to the moderators.

ETA: Not the first time you've mistaken "making fun of" with "spouting hatred" is it?

I doubt she will clarify in any meaningful way what she meant, but she is more than welcome to.

But they already believe in God, and believe in Jesus as a messenger from God. Why do you insist that your particular rituals are the only way? Is God so limited that He can't recognize different cultures and traditions?

No one has said, so far as I can tell, that you violated a rule/guideline, although I confess it is not clear to me how the post in question is intended to carry into effect the exhortation to be civil and polite. I meant merely to refer you back to the guidelines to encourage you to self-assess how you're implementing the goals of civility and politeness. I find that self-policing and mutual encouragement are our main tools for ensuring that the forum posts embody the type of discourse that best reflects the standards set forth in the guidelines.

If don't recall indicating in my earlier post that you were "spouting hatred". If you're nonetheless suggesting that I've made such a mistake, however, than I agree that you are at least the second person to make such a suggestion. Of course, I doubt it was true in the past either - but the suggestion was made.

Yes, I can feel the welcoming from here.

Don't play coy. You certainly did infer I was in breach of it. Thanks for your obvious and caring need to police others in this forum, but it's not your place. As I said, if you have a problem, report it. Condescending remarks inferring breach of forum rules puts you on the same level as those you look to police.

You're not open to the idea that you are misinterpreting soemthing? How arrogant.

Yes. I bet you can. Bite me.

Welcome to my ignore list.
