The Gospel

Attempt #2.

Kathy are you going to address the questions I posted?

Are you going to address the questions I posted by zaardragon that you ignored 3 times before?

Okay, I have some questions.

How do you quantify his spirit? How exactly do you know what his spirit is?

Now specifically, I would be interested if you would answer the questions zaayrdragon asked of you three times without your response in another thread:

Just in case you missed it, Kathy.

Kathy, let me ask a series of questions, patiently, one at a time, and you answer, to the best of your ability, based on your understanding of the Word.

First: Is God absolutely omniscient? To be precise, does God see, hear, and know absolutely everything there is to be known, past, present, and future? Does God know everything in every person's heart and mind completely? Does God know every choice that every thing will ever make?

Please answer that, and I will present my next question.

The goal, in this case, is to simply attempt to grasp your understanding of the nature of God.

Thanks.

Matthew 13: 1-
The Parable of the Sower
1That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9He who has ears, let him hear."
10The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"

11He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 13This is why I speak to them in parables:
"Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand. 14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
" 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.'[a] 16But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

18"Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. 23But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

It is the Holy Spirits job to bring things like this parable into fuition.

Watch it, fowlsound! You've only been posting here 3 months, and you aren't qualified to know "what we do here".
:rolleyes:

(I wonder if ceo_esq ever quite understood what I meant when I explained myself in my response.)

We interrupt the religious ranting to bring you a test of the Emergency Recipe-posting System...

(My point being...the following is just as valid a response to this thread as most of the responses from a certain member have been.)

Hey fowlsound...

I've got some friends coming over tonight, who are vegan (I am not, but am always open to new experiences). They say that it is possible to cook a vegan pizza. I've got some vegetable toppings, and they are going to bring some bread, sauce, and cheese-like substance that are all vegan. If you're interested, I can let you know how it turns out. Got any vegan friends?

We now return you to the religious ranting. Had this been an actual cooking emergency, you would have been given directions to the nearest restaurant. Thank you for your patience during our test of The Emergency Recipe-posting System.

Add your favorite vegetable as a topping. I like to use tomatoes and onions.
1 prepared/slightly baked vegan pizza dough
1 (12 ounce) package soft silken tofu, drained
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
1 medium yellow onion, minced
3-5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pinch of grated nutmeg
salt
pepper
1 cup shredded soy cheese
8 delicious slices Change size or US/metric
Change to: delicious slices US Metric
35 minutes 15 mins prep

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
2. Heat olive oil in large skillet.
3. Sautee spinach, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg for about 5 minutes.
4. In a food processor blend, spinach mixture and tofu until smooth.
5. Evenly spred onto pizza dough.
6. Sprinkle cheese.
7. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until crust is a golden brown.

Actually chaps, Pizza is just fine without any cheese substitue at all. You might want to make the tomato sauce a little more salty though.

I think I know why kurious_kathy posted the Parable of the Sower.

Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.

She is basically accusing us of being the "hard soil" in the parable, those who hear the word of God but are too calloused to understand it. Of course, this doesn't answer the objections and questions posted on this thread.

kurious_kathy, if you want anyone in this forum to take you seriously, you have to provide good evidence for what you proclaim. You have not done this. You have mentioned Lee Strobel and other apologists, but we have seen their arguments before, and have not been impressed. You have quoted Scriptures that are often totally unrelated to the objections posted on this thread. That doesn't cut it either; it is simply nonresponsive. You have also kept repeating yourself, merely adding emphasis to what you already said. This too doesn't help. Repeating a claim over and over does not make it true. Repeating a claim with more and more emotion doesn't make it true, either. You need to present good evidence and good argument.

Go to a library and see if you can find books on critical thinking and how to structure and map out an argument.

Good Post, jjramsey.

kk, if you can understand what jj is saying you can skip my post. I know we're not seeing eye to eye. We don't seem to have much respect for each other's point of view. This is my response to the last post you directed at me. If you could make your points using the gospel at least we could argue back and forth on the meaning. I've taken some liberties here but I'm trying to make a point. Hopefully, there is some way for us to coexist here.
kurious_kathy said:
Excuse me? I am sharing Jesus and that in no way makes me a false teacher or prophet.
Actually that depends on what you are saying and how you are saying it. Sharing is having something that others might want and giving them some. So far no one wants what you've got. You've taken a garden hose filled with what you call the water of life and you are pushing it down people's throats. You are not engaging in any give and take. When people ask you what you believe or what you think your Bible quote means you treat them to silence or an unrelated quote from scripture.

So, what you're doing is not sharing, got that? You're preaching... you're trying to be a teacher. But you don't know the subject, you afraid to say what you should know about your God. Zaayrdragon's question... why don't you share your thoughts? If you don't know, you don't know. But for us we have to know what respect you deserve. You've been up front telling us we're going to hell. Though Matthew 7:1 cautions "Judge not, that ye be not judged." How will you be judged, false teacher?
Matthew 7:19-21 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
What kind of fruit have you brought forth so far? Good will? Love? A yearning for Jesus? Or have you sown suspicion and mistrust? You are doing the work of the devil, pushing people further from the Lord, filling their hearts with anger, and disrespecting God's holy word. (More on that in a moment)
I know He lives!
You've told us you knew a spirit Joseph was your guardian angel... but you were wrong. We've asked you how you knew and got no reply. Why should we believe you now? You say these things but we know by your admission that you were in the devil's snare - you seem to be about the devil's work - you won't engage us in meaningful discourse.
Seems to me there are 2 kinds of people in this world, intellects or social-lites.
A third type might be intell-lites.
I relate to people more on an emotional level than many here,
I noted that and in agreement called you brainless and this was the way I meant it.
but that doesn't make me wrong.
No, there are plenty of very socially inclined people here. They are almost universally well received. You are not. Hmmm.
And I definately have a brain so stop being so calest!
I hate appearing calloused. It's not my way at all. I've tried to tell you. Your brain does not work.
Mean people suck! And this is definately a human statement I just made.
Caught that. Bigots aren't fun to be around either, but we're stuck with you. Let me help you with that word: Bigot - a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from her own.
I don't think you understand the meaning of what a false prophet or teacher is. Maybe you could consider that?
I don't think you're any kind of a prophet. You might but that's from your days with the devil before you accepted Jesus. I'm saying you are coming here preaching, which is teaching. You do not respect scripture and it's obvious how you employ it. You just throw it out there. It's not about the scripture, it's about you. You could be using it to promote fellowship on Christian boards. But no - you use it the way the devil would, the way the gospel says DON'T! You are doing this to because you want to be special.
Matthew 23:6-8 They want to sit in the best places at the feasts. They want to have the front seats in the meeting houses. They want people to greet them in the market, and to call them "Teacher". But people should not call you "Teacher". You have one Teacher.
You tell us we're going to hell. We are the unclean to you. Is the scripture holy to you? Do jesus' words mean anything to you?
Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
What do you think he meant? Throw his words in front of atheists. Waste them, knowing they'll be trampled on, and the readers of them attack you. Could He have been any more explicit? I don't think so. But you don't love him or believe him in this. He tells you what will happen, you do it anyway. You do what the devil would do. You do the devil's work. You teach falsely and it will lead you to hell. Right teaching wouldn't. Right teaching would respect the words of Jesus.

Time for a quiz.
Matthew 10:14 In some places people will not take you in, or listen to what you say. So when you leave that house or town, shake the dust off your feet.
Question? What are you gonna do?

Back to more evidence on how the Holy Spirit works....

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Ephesians 3:14-16

‘While I’m in prison, I’m praying for you that the Holy Spirit might strengthen you in the inner man,’ says Paul.

Do you care about your kids, Mom and Dad? Pray for them.

Do you care about your church, saint? Pray for us.

Do you care about your community? Pray that the Holy Spirit will work in the inner man.

So many have knowledge in their heads, but it hasn’t dropped 18 inches into their hearts. How does that happen?

Through prayer. Paul says, ‘I bow my knee — I assume the posture of intensity — and I pray. I can give you all of the head theology in Chapters 1, 2, and the first part of 3. But my prayer is that it will make its way to your heart.’

I just received the Holy Spirit last November after all that other junk happened in my life. I had been deceived prior to coming to faith in Christ.
I mentioned the two foot drop somewhere else but this is a better explaination of that expression. It's not head knowlege, but heart knowlege that gets us right with God!

Thank you, Kathy, for showing me exactly what I expected.

When asked to answer questions, you ignore them and blindly preach.

When ridiculed, you then claim we are being judgemental and mean toward you.

You have shown you are nothing but a troll, and you are doing nothing but blindly preaching at a skeptic's forum probably because someone in your cult gave you that assignment.

You will now see the appearance of kittens and recipies in response to your post. This is done whenever someone such as yourself becomes an obviously ridiculous preacher, not responding to anything and regurgitating your mindless drivel.

Just because you have never had a Supernatural experience that turned your life around, doesn't mean others haven't. I did and when God opened my eyes to the truth He had to expose the evil one because those were the strongholds in my life. You would have to be able to believe in the unseen war to even try to understand.
People talk about demon possesion all the time. If I had not been God's I would not have lived through this trauma in my life. I never should have gotten into that New Age junk before coming to faith. The spiritual warfare is real and I found out the hardway.

Matthew 12:22-37 (New International Version)
Jesus and Beelzebub
Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.All the people were astonished and said, "Could this be the Son of David?"
But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "It is only by Beelzebub,[a] the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons."
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
"Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house.
"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

God meets us where we are at. That's the way it is. I have told you too much about my past that you don't understand so you will try to use it against me? Seems the evil one is using you to attack my testimony.
Jesus Christ set me free. Not only me but many others. Here another reference to someone else who may have had an extreme encounter like I did. It's rare, but it does happen..

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 1/4 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
* 1 tablespoon white sugar
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 1/2 cups high-gluten bread flour
* 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
* 2 tablespoons water
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place warm water, sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, flour and yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
2. Most machines have a 'beep' toward the end of their cycle that allows you to add additional ingredients. Sprinkle in oregano and basil at this time.
3. When machine's Dough cycle has ended, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape into an oval or round loaf. Place loaf on a baking sheet that has been well greased with olive oil. Cover with a damp towel and let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees.
4. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons water with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cut three slits on top of bread. Brush entire loaf with salt water mixture and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden and bottom of loaf sounds hollow when tapped. This bread will be hard when it comes out of the oven. Let sit 10 minutes to soften before cutting.

Kathy,

Considering how judgmental and bigoted you act towards us, tell me how you are not doing the devil's work by driving us away from Christianity.

Because that's what you're doing.

In fact, I myself had a "spiritual event" that turned my life around. I became an atheist. Things have never been better.

I feel very sympathetic Kathy. I once believed in "spiritual warfare" too. My life was actually pretty uneventful and boring, and the excitement of thinking I was fighting a war against evil made me feel as though I were important and special.

But there is no war against evil, Kathy. I'm important and special without needing to believe in a fairy tale, and so are you. Seriously.

**Addendum**

Thank you Kathy, for adding your own thoughts to your quotes from the bible. Keep it up -- we may actually get a productive dialogue going here.

More straight bible quotes without your own thoughts though, and I'll start posting pictures of my cat. ;)

Speaking of supernatural

Software
5 - 10 habanero peppers, stemmed and rough chopped
5 - 10 cloves of garlic, smashed
a handfull of cilantro
half an onion, quartered
1/4 c lime juice (approx 2 limes)
1/4 c vinegar

Hardware
blender
knife/chopping board
rubber/latex gloves (for working with peppers)
enough jars to contain a half-pint of liquid

put the software in the blender. Bash until consistancy desired. Put in jars. Refigerate.

I use this as a quick and dirty method to salsa making. Later on, chop some fruit (tomatoes, plums, peaches, mangos whatever), a bit of onion and a healthy dollop of this, and ya got a ready made salsa. Or just eat it straight.

You are getting a little better. At least you are trying to offer evidence here. The trouble is that the quality of your evidence is suspect. How do we know that this Clint Byars was not mistaken about having demonic encounters? He was taking LSD. Worse, how do we know that he isn't lying like Mike Warnke did? These are crucial questions that you need to ask. You can't just simply take everything on trust, and you can't simply assume that a source is correct because it tells you something that already accords with your current beliefs.

Some food for thought from an undogmatic skeptic:

Well, your teachings are false and you are judging falsely too. I, like Nex and others, have had spiritual experiences. Jesus was, and is, of importance both to me personally and to the history of the world. Supernatural experiances are a dime a dozen. Idiots have them looking at faces cooked into their dinner rolls. There is nothing supernatural about them. Everybody has feelings. You have had feelings. You called a feeling God. You might have called it constipation or something else, but you called it God. Now you come here and say I know God exists because I had this feeling. By the way here's a Bible quote on feelings.

Kathy you are living a lie. You are here for some other reason than what you you've told us. It's not about God, it's about you. We've told you what we're looking for. Dont you believe the saying: Seek and you shall find? We're looking for evidence, we're looking for clear thinking, we're looking for demonstrations, anything to back up what you're saying.

We're not attacking you because you told us that an angel Joseph fooled you into thinking he was good, only to find out he wasn't? We're trying to use that incident to inform you of our profound disagreement in the way our worldview differs from yours.

Let's say that one of your kids thought she was a good singer but all she could do is screech. Not only that but all she screeched was gangsta rap. Let's say you told her to sing soft, or sing clear, or sing nice songs but she kept coming back screeching. You're treating us that way. I've offered ideas on what you could do. Others have too. But you continue to push your ugly prejudices and your holier than thou attitude complete with scripture - even after I've pointed out how doing this is contrary to what Jesus taught.

You debase Jesus. He is your magic teddy bear. He is not the precious savior of the world whose teachings should be central to your existence. He's a magical spirit that lets you pound people on the head with your Bible. You've got no idea what Christian Love is all about - you think it's about the Bible. You don't live the words that affect your heart and the love and joy that is in it. You screech it. You aren't even trying to do the Lord's work. You'll be first into Lake of Fire if this keeps up.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."
Jesus Christ set me free.[/B]
Some entity claiming to be the angel Joseph convinced you otherwise, now some entity claiming to be Jesus convinces you differently. All we are asking is how you recognized them both as true and good, and what changed your mind. We are asking you for honest introspection. You're coming here trying to sell Jesus - but how do we know you're not Joseph, an evil spirit - you do not seem to heed the words of Jesus you just keep spoutin them.
