The Gospel

Why is the gospel such an offense to people?
I don't understand your question. Am I offended by the existance of the gospel? Nope. Am I annoyed when someone tries to ram it down my throat? Yes.

I don't find the gospel offensive. I find people who try to shove it down my throat offensive.

And regardless of where they want to shove it, I think it is much more polite when they use a soft-cover version.

I find it exasperating that people take this myth and believe it is history!.

I'm not offended by it. But I feel sorry for the people who waste their lives and talents pursuing it.

Because it is the truth, a truth of moral absolutes. And it goes against todays humanism which says there is no absolute right or wrong. Man in rebelion does not want to be constrained by the knowledge of a righteous God who will judge them.

Yeah - so remember that it is a a deadly sin to kill ... unless god tells you to. Um....

Maybe we wouldn't have this problem if this God person was ever portrayed as particularly righteous--or, for that matter, real.

kurious kathy -

I am also curious. Do you 'believe' in the gospel? If so, what does that mean in terms of how you comport yourself?

Thanks.

God is portrayed as real; a real self-righteous, genocidal ass. :p

Too right. I should have used the word believable. :D
Oh, I believe the gospels, all right. From the depiction therein, I believe god is a great bif fat genocidal ass... :D

Oh, that's hardly fair. He's not fat. A bit of a lush, though.

Not only do I believe it, but I believe if God had not kept his hand on me I would not have lived through lot's of things in my life! Now I am free and walking in the light:)

I'm happy for you. Just remember that not everyone believes like you do. Some believe in other religions. Some don't believe in religion at all. And every one has the right to believe or not.

I just hate when people use bible quotes to explain things or the reasons the way they are. I personally regard the gospel as a ficticious book written by man. But I will tell you one thing the instant I witness something paranormal that has been scientifically proven is the day I will go out and buy a gospel and become religious.

I have given this devil a million chances to get my soul and all I have asked him is to either drop a leaf off a tree within a certain period of time or simply turn off a light. I have asked god to make my Lan connection to drop within 30 seconds of me asking him and still nothing. These being simply do not exist or do not have any power whatsoever. I would just as soon worship a child molestor than worship a non existant god.
