The gazillionith July Stundie Nom thread

Stelios has competition...from himself.

Why use a falcon feather in the Apollo hammer & feather experiment on the moon?

OMG. :eye-poppi This may be a winner.

Many levels of stupid here but it's worth pointing out that the Apollo 15 mission commander Dave Scott explained exactly why he was using a falcon feather during the live broadcast of the hammer and feather demonstration.

"Falcon" was the nickname of the Lunar Module. It was so called because Apollo 15 had an all Air Force crew, and the official Air Force Academy mascot is a live falcon. The Air Force Falcons are the collective name of the various Air Force Academy sports teams and falconry is an extracurricular activity. It was a feather from the official mascot that Scott carried with him. Nothing to do with naughty NASA at all.

Man, those hoaxers really planned this one in advance!

:boxedin:

Wha....? :jaw-dropp

My brain can't cope with that one.

The money quote:

The feathers of the peregrine falcon contribute to its high speeds. The feathers are slim and stiff, reducing the drag that can be caused by loose limp feathers.

OMG are you admitting that they took the live falcon with them?:D

Careful, you might be quoted by an AH'er.

Stelios is really on a roll the last couple of days. You gotta be willing to follow a conversation through 3 to 5 threads scattered in 2 different subfora at DIF, but I find him entertaining enough to bother.

Another wifflebat swish at da truf:

Because another astronaut would have had to put it there not very easy with his gloved pressurized hands.
So please inform us what was the purpose of the red sticky tape?

(for those not sure what we're talking about, this is in reference to the red "CDR" stripe sewn onto the uniform to differentiate the astronauts in film and pix)

I learned about the commanders stripe from Mythbusters.

Wow that is so dense.

Oh good news everyone. Normally with a few days off I would have had the Stundie Finals done by now. But as I have been renovating the kitchen with the free time that hasn't happened. BUT I should have them up probably tomorrow.

Rumsfeldesque take on enhancement..

"You cant use the original to enhance the original you only end up with the same original, if the original is better than the original after the original was updated the data must of come from something that was not the original, so you would end up with not the original but a tapered tape with no original to see what was altered or faked. "

So, digital reprocessing doesn't actually work:boggled:

Who's on first?

Chris7 actually approaches the mark, but in the very next sentence does a complete 180 and hits his foot instead.

You can't interpret the data points literally as they obviously vary around the actual acceleration due to the graininess of the video. To get the actual acceleration it is necessary to find a "best fit" line.

Again with the DIFbats? Give it a rest, already!

It makes me laugh how you go on about physics and truth..

Have you not yet realized that the PTB can create what ever "physics" suit them.

Like I say NIST think that physics and two terroist flown planes brought the world trade center towers down by them selves.. Do you also believe that?

I know they are two completely different scenarios, but while your on the subject of physics and truth I thought it was relevant.

What you know about what its like on the moon, your are taught by NASA, simple as that.

Any time you wanna DQ nominations from the Delusional Idiots Forum, we'll stop posting them. But I'm telling ya, those guys might be onto something.

Or on something. :boggled:

"******* ONLY light travels @ lightspeed.....
if analog was lightspeed SUPERFAST at transmitting data why then would we switch to digital ??

(care to answer)

according to tg, downloading the same song in WAV (radio wave) is faster then MP3 (digital) "

The frightening stupidity of these people :jaw-dropp

"I said ''last remaining stage'' of a three stage rocket. Not 3rd stage."

That is the purest form of stundie. Simple and yet wonderfully stupid.

I was gonna say "not to be pedandic..." but this is JREF so I guess this is just to be pedantic:

Technically, the Apollo missions used a total of 6 "stages" to do the job, with 2 of them relit for multiple uses. The 3rd stage to achieve orbit was reused for TLI and the Service Module was actually a 4th stage, then the LM was 2 separate stages. If we count each major burn as a "stage" the Saturn system was a total of 8 stages, plus correction burns in cislunar space.

None of which makes ian's post any less wrong or ian seem more informed.
