The first rule of science

Oh I thought the First rule of science was going to be
"You don't talk about science!"

Actually, I was hoping that would be Rules 1 and 2.

That's the first rule of science >club<.

1. You don't talk about science club.
2. You don't talk about science club.
3. When a reaction stops, or goes limp, even if it's an anomaly, the experiment is over.
4. Only two reagents to a reaction.
5. One experiment at a time.
6. The scientists experiment with proper safety equipment.
7. The science goes on as long as it has to.
8. If this is your first night at science club, you have to perform an experiment.

Other First Rules:

Medicine: Do no harm.
Pedestrians: Look both ways before crossing.
Food Service: Wash your hands after going to the bathroom.
Chemistry: Wash your hands before going to the bathroom.
Haz Waste Operations: Don't get any on you.

Stupidest medical rule the old Hippo dude ever pronounced. (Are you a homeopath?)
Only way to "do no harm" is to use totally ineffective and useless nostrums. You can't chop trees down stroking them with a feather - you need a chain saw.

D'oh! When I saw the title of this thread, I came here to post that very thing, only to find someone had beat me to it!

But how about the homoeopathic oath, then?

First, do no harm.

Third, profit!
