Well, that and remembering the latin for iron...
Yeah, but not knowing Latin is just standard ignorance. Not being at least somewhat familiar with the periodic table when discussing chemistry is aggressive ignorance.

I haven't been anywhere near chemistry since high school and even I can remember that FE is iron. In fact it is easy to remember since the symbol is different from the name.

#20

How could it not be?

Is it too much to point out that #20 is probably such a popular choice because of the Iron-y?

#15 for the win but I've got a strong place in my heart for #17.

Is it sad that I thought of Patrick1000 when I read one or two of those, with no knowledge of where the quote were from or from who?

I know I'm biased because I nominated it, (and it was seconded by JayUtah), but I still think #2 is the best. A layman might be forgiven for not understanding Newton's laws, or not knowing that Fe = iron, but how can anyone seriously believe that ICBM testing isn't rocket science? Having said that, I do understand the school of thought that P1K is undeserving of a Stundie, though I don't agree with it.

Not to spoil the fun, but... Regarding #20, is it possible that he was "correcting" the person, because "Fe" is usually on the periodic table with just the first letter capitalized? (I haven't had chem since high school)

I have to say that I like this format better than the old "vote for one only" polls; it's great for months like this when we have so many potential (dis)honorable mentions. :D

Absolutely!

ETA: 2, 6, 15, 16, 20.

Anyone being so obtuse with their pedantry still deserves to be made fun of.
