Poor saps in California have a helmet law? Not here in PA!

Increase in Pa. motorcycle fatalities bucks national trend

Motorcycle fatalities in Pennsylvania rose by 6 percent in the first nine months of last year, bucking a national decline in such deaths, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.

The association estimated that nationwide motorcycle deaths declined by at least 2 percent, the second straight decrease after 11 years of steadily rising fatalities.

Pennsylvania had 197 motorcycle fatalities for the first nine months of last year, compared with 186 during the same period of 2009, according to the report.

The association warned that the nationwide decrease was concentrated in the early months of the year and that U.S. fatalities actually rose 3 percent in the third quarter. Also raising concerns are the likelihood of increased motorcycle travel because of skyrocketing gasoline prices and what the association called an alarming decline in helmet use, from 67 percent in 2009 to 54 percent last year.

Maybe you guys can go after those stupid seat belt laws next.

Let freedom ring.

Yes! That's exactly what will happen... we will go after those stupid seat belt laws next!

It really should be up to the motorist whether they want to wear a helmet or not. I don't own a motorcycle but I have friends who do and all of them wear a helmet, in case you're wondering.

Those who I have seen NOT wearing a helmet can usually be spotted during the spring and summer months when wearing a helmet tends to be a sweaty nuisance. Either that or they'll wear the German-military-type helmet that fits around the top of their head.

So cops are allowed to harass people on assumption now, eh?

Don't know, when was the video shot ?

From what others have said, a more accurate version of your comment would be

"So cops were allowed to harass people on assumption about 25 years ago"

So cops are allowed to harass people on assumption now, eh?

No I'm saying posters here shouldn't make assumptions based on very little information. The cop stopped the guy because he had a suspended license, a pretty sensible thing for a cop to do.

...to which... the cops had no reason, at this point in time, to pull him over and harass him.
How is this even a reply to my statement?

The female cop was talking about a completetly different incident, do you understand that?
