The Energy Tower - Cheap Renewable Energy ?

Uspto 7,178,337

I just came across this: USPTO patent 7,178,337 granted Feb 20, 2007 to Pflanz; Tassilo.

It was filed in Dec, 2004 and has many of the same key components. Geothermal/solar trough heat source, shallow thermal storage, seasonal heat storage, heat exchanger solar chimney, night time cooling and condensed water capture.

He even has a compressed gas/air storage and gas turbine idea like CAWEGS and threw in a Stirling engine, hydrogen electrolysis and fuel cells.

You have to love the USPTO, all you have to do is make the application thick enough and wait 2.5 years and they grant anything. How can you patent geothermal power plants and not be denied on prior art?

He missed the gas absorption heat pump concept completely which puts a serious hole in the efficiency of his system and has some very complicated heat transfer diagrams that look like doodling to me.
