Despite your attempts at being more enlightened than the rest of us, you still fall into the parochial view of the universe when you claim that the analogy of us and insects is not valid because we both live in the same world.
Well, why should you assume that aliens view a planet any differently to the way we view a village?
If these beasties exist, then we both inhabit the same galaxy, the same universe....so why should they hide from us?
In allowing them to interact with us beings, who are on a level of evolution, much below them, through interplantary contact, it would be like two families becoming mixed together, ultimately transforming both.
If such a race, where to simply "jump in" the current family situation on earth right now, it would be like mixing Americans from present day, with a family from the 1600's!
Many many misconceptions and distortions of each other would likely be resultant, as well as a primal inability to succeed at the level they were previously at, while only working with each other's individual group.
Once a group is ready, they can move beyond the confines of the planet, yet until then, if a group entered a planet or if the planetary group was put on another planet by another group, it will not result in anything but failure of one or both groups or extreme and unecessary hardships.
This is known, by those advanced groups, readily waiting for earth.
I think the UFO kooks would answer that perhaps they have a Prime Directive
WP.
They might, whoever they are, yet I'm not aware of any "prime directive", so it's not my understanding to say so!
Ah, Utopia, what a fine fantasy.
You know it as "Utopia", they know it as "every other place in the universe".
Does that mean cows will stop farting?

You life is made to be much much easier, as well as satisfying beyond the current level of human emotional context.
