The Day The War On Terror Died

But what will they do when they find out that Goebbels is fat?

"The common people pray for rain, healthy children and a summer that never ends. It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of phones, so long as they are left in peace."

Thank you for the last few responses. So no good reason apart from the paranoid belief that staunch allies might be acting in their own national interest.

Of course I know this happens. I can't excuse it though.

Yes, big deal, an anonymous internet poster unhappy. Still.....

I guess Australia had no good reasons for spying on the Indonesian President either....

Calling Germany "staunchest ally" is a stretch.

That pride of place belongs to the UK.

By quite a margin.

And we would never spy on them.

Technically the answer is no, the UK is part of the Five Eyes and as such shouldn't be being spied on by any of the other four members, one of which is the US. However... it does appear that the NSA at least considered breaking that agreement.

For those that don't know, the Five Eyes consists of the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Retaliation for Spying: Germany Asks CIA Official to Leave Country

SPIEGEL said:
In what amounts to a diplomatic earthquake, Berlin has asked the country's top CIA official to leave Germany. The measures comes in response to the second allegation in a week of a German government employee spying for the US.

Finally something. Although this is still highly symbolic (they didn't even technically expel him) and mostly due to the outrage of a public that really has had enough of the ultra-arrogant behaviour of this "friend".

So merkel is obviously insane, and hates freedom.
I'm confused here: Can a german be the new new hitler? Anybody knows if that is against the rules somehow?
