The "Conservative Bible Project" ... Dumbest Thing Ever?

I think it's great. It's like they've finally realised the inadequacy of the Bible as a moral foundation, and are taking steps to create a new one.

Only problem is, who decides what goes into it?

And read the talk page. One sane conservative mentions, in making his argument, that the Bible is written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

And when Andy Schlafly himself, the founder of Conservapedia, answers that comment, he can't resist sniping that "you seem unsure in identifying the language".

Yeah. He actually ... he really doesn't know ... he ... he's that ignorant of the book he worships ... he genuinely has no idea ... OMG!!!

I'm just going to hug myself right now in a private orgy of Schadenfreude.

...Someone tell me this is just a joke...
Like this is something I'd expect Stewart/Colbert to be all over.

This is the same Andrew Schlafly that demanded the "hard data" of Richard Lenski's E. Coli experiments even though he would probably have no clue what to do with 20 years of living biological material.

Can anyone figure out how to register? Their "Log in / create account" page does not, in fact, allow me to create an account, and, dammit, this is irresistible.

But it does track your IP address, as well as all contributions your IP has made...

ETA: This may explain it.

Sorry, I edited my comment. It appears they are currently closed for the evening.
That might be it. I'll try again tomorrow, and register my extreme disapproval of that piece of liberal hogwash masquerading as the "Sermon On The Mount".

I was stunned by this:

But note that the Greek (you seem unsure in identifying the language) was itself an imperfect language for conveying certain powerful concepts, and that many of the translation disputes today are unrelated to the original language.

That is stupidity of Biblical proportions.

Kudos to AngusF for asking

If "certain powerful concepts" are not (perfectly) preserved in the languages of the earliest manuscripts, then from what source do you infer more perfect "translations"?

a Conservative Bible could become a text for public school courses

And in the meantime, let's get those darn liberal Bibles out of our schools. The youth of America are being corrupted!

Yeah, because loving your neighbor as yourself sure is morally bankrupt.
