After reading through the beer thread two things occured to me:

1. I feel like having a beer

2. It'd be interesting to see what kind of cheap beer people have experience with.

The list above is certainly not all-inclusive, but is instead a list of cheap beer that I am unfortunately familiar with. They're all American, as we seem to have a market for this stuff. Any foreign entries are certainly welcome.

Well? Which brand of watery swill brings back memories of your student/bachelor days?

edited for spelling

I'm guessing IBC doesn't count as "cheap" - stuff is pretty expensive, I think.

Olde English 800. I don't remember drinking a whole lot of that stuff when the world was young. I do remember often waking up in a strange part of town, wearing someone else's clothing.

Hope it was someone of the same gender...

"Iron City" was the swill of the young when I was in Pittsburgh.

I learned from it that beer was yucky and that I didn't like beer.

Then I went to Great Britain and actually drank some real beer.

CHEAP BEER

Any of you older guys remember Falstaff? There was a brewery in New Orleans, and we could get a case for $4 in the mid seventies.

Another cheapo in that area is Dixie -- brewed with the sparkling waters of the mighty Mississippi!

Since I grew up in New Orleans (N'Awlins), I remember both. However, Falstaff went away when I was in elementary school. You can find Dixie at some places in Los Angeles, but it isn't as cheap as it is in New Orleans, though the mark up isn't as bad as it was at first. Instead of being about $1 cheaper than Bud or Miller (as it is in N.O.), it's about $1 more. I don't buy it though. The last time I was in New Orleans, I had a Dixie in a bar for old times sake and that was good enough.

I get 30 packs of Pabst Blue Ribbon Light for about $10.00 here in Boston.

Good god, man! Why would you do that?!?!??!?!?!?

Hamms
Geobel
Ballentine
Falstaff too, even way up here in Michigan.

I don't miss drinking them so much as the times had with friends while drinking them.

I should've pointed out that the greatest (though not the best tasting) cheap beer every produced was Billy Beer.
