The Central Dogma

According to Chambers
dogma - noun (dogmas or dogmata) 1 a a belief or principle laid down by an authority as unquestionably true; b such beliefs or principles in general. 2 colloq an opinion arrogantly stated.

I fail to see why anyone had a problem with Crick's use of the word dogma.

I do not sense it as something that implies or does not imply evidence. There are technical problems with it, in places, but the evidence is that it is broadly true. Crick was stating it as an authority and many people who knew him did find him arrogant.
