Democracy and the rule of law becomes redundant for both parties. That is exactly what Trump and his ilk want. That will sure help your ****** up country.

Some progressives don't reallly want Democracy:They want what amounts to a "Dictatorship Of The Proleretariat" which amount to authoratarian rule by Militant Left Ideologues.Sort of Bizarro version of the far right.
And this has always been there on the left. Trump has jsut givne them a excuse to be open about it.

That genie that trump let out of the bottle will probably never go back in.

I know why you use the term "progressives" here, but they are really no more progressive than Trump supporters are conservative.

Maybe you didn't vote for Biden's "message", but some of us did. Some of us are sick of the hyper-partisanship on both sides (which is what got Trump into power) and just want everyone to get along while we work together to deal with the mess we are in. Some us us thought Biden was the best candidate because of what he said he would do, not in spite of it.

Progressives who 'worked their butt off' for Biden have merely atoned for their role in giving us Trump last time. They don't deserve any more than what they are getting - which is nowhere near being thrown under the bus.

Unfortunately, when one sides wants a war, you're having a war whether you want it or not.

Every Democrat I know would love it if the US went back to things as they were even just a decade ago, but it's become clear that virtually no Republicans want that, so what the hell else can the Democrats do? Just keep letting the GOP wallow in its own crapulence?

The big difference now is, I'm confident that after the Dems have burnt down the GOP and sown its lands with salt, they'll most likely bring the US back to something that at least looks like freedom and democracy as it was known. The GOP? Nope, **** that, if they win, they'll shove every ****** thing they can down our throats, period.

I agree, but that is what they call themselves. Don't know what to call them really,. Some of them strike me as good old fashoined Authoritarian Marxist, to be frank but the tem "Communist" has be so misued I don't like to use it.

I don't share your confidence.Power corrupts,and I am afraid that the Dems will like being the sole power so much they will become like the current GOP...willing to do anything to stay in power.I ma also concerend they have their own crazy wing now,and it will come to dominate the party.
I think you are under the illusion that everybody on the left is in favor of freedom and democracy. THat is an illusion.Hard line ideologues of all stripes tend to be authoratarians.

ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if Biden got wind of this and Ducklo's 'resignation' was not exactly voluntary.

We are not even a month into Biden's term. The cabinet will be get filled. Take a breath.

The Dems can't do as much as a lot of people would like because of the filibuster rule. And they can't get rid of the filibuster with any defections. Not one. Senators Tester of Montana and Manchin of WV have no interest in getting rid of it.

Your right. They'd been on the job for a whole 24 hours so the Biden Administration was surely, after all that time, a smoothly oiled machine, humming along on a all cylinders. This is doubly true since his team had so much cooperation from T**** during the transition. :rolleyes:

I'm with you on this. I'm interested in government helping people. PERIOD. But I don't think it can do that without principles. But I'm also not naive. People mostly operate out of self interest. But not entirely.

Biden cannot nor should not try and repudiate the Republican party. That's not his job. His job is to serve the country.

And not sure that all Sems want the full Progressive agenda anyway.
