Cont: The Biden Presidency Part II

To poke at a couple things that might be of some interest for consideration -

Inflation Misreported by Media, Good for Many Workers, Bad for Big Banks

Let's say you have 100 million homes priced at $145 thousand for a total
of $14.5 trillion. Inflation knocks off $850 billion off of the home owners debt,
leaving lenders with only $13.65 trillion.

Now let us put in a stipulation that the borrowers must repay and borrow
the money every year. With house still at todays price of $145 thousand
and lenders only able to provide $13.65 trillion now only 94 million houses
can refinance. Rinse and repeat and a year later and only 89 million houses
can refinance.

Obviously, if new homeowners want a home they'll either raise the needed
funds by saving in an inflationary environment, or offer higher interest
payment in competing with other borrowers, or forgo buying a home altogether.

Clearly, older homeowners, say baby boomers, will enjoy the benefits of inflation,
but new homeowners, say the millennials, will pay the price. On the other hand,
new home construction will fall and make home repairs cheeper.

Ah the Republicans...
The economical calamity will explode on their watch.
It always does.

Of course if Warp12 did not put it in such a gratuitously nasty way, what he said might be more or less true. It's likely that Biden did not really need to have the VP stand in for that short time, and quite possible that he decided to do so as a favor to Harris and her image, as well as for the significance of the event, since it does represent the first time a woman has held, even for a moment, the executive power. Of course almost anything can be made to sound evil or stupid or silly if said the right way.

As the recipient of a couple of colonscopies, I think it's reasonable to say that it was in that room that one was taken for the team, not in the oval office.

.....

It's become routine for presidential power to be transferred to the VP when the President is under anesthesia. Imagine what it would be like if an enemy launched a nuclear attack while the only person who could order a response was incapacitated. Dick Cheney did it twice.

Well, the story I tell everyone is that Biden demanded to get his bunghole probed in the interests of good PR for Harris. It's open for debate, I suppose....but the timing was oddly perfect.

Are you basing this on some actual knowledge?

Well, just looking at the scenario surrounding Biden's VP:

1) She is facing horrible approval ratings

Yes, horrible. Dick Cheney literally shot someone in the face and had better approval ratings than her.

2) Her Communications Director is "resigning"

Obviously this person was forced out of her role because of the horrible approval ratings that Harris has. Those ratings are the talk of the town.

3) Convenient "coincidence" that Biden has to transfer presidential powers

Of course, this was big news...for a day. But, I don't think it is going to help her overall image one bit. I even read an article that claimed she was in power for "a few hours". Meanwhile, it was actually just 1 hour and 25 minutes. Anything to prop her up, I suppose.

If the media wasn't so cowardly and left-leaning, they would be calling this "Sphinctergate". Nobody is going to convince me that this was not orchestrated to boost the VP's image.

Not amused. Not even surprised by Dick Cheney as the republicans will give the VP the same rating as the president. But look what happened to Daddy Bush. Only the Reagan link got him elected. Plus Dukakis is one of the worst we had, worse than Harris.

But yes, Harris is not a plus for any 2024 run and hopefully not the candidate.

That's a very elaborate no.

It’s bizarre that a simple return to historic norms can be built up to be something pernicious.

It's not that the transfer of power is suspect, in itself. It's just a matter of the timing for the procedure. Like, right in the middle of the poop storm that is her approval rating, and with that dominating headlines...we get this, which takes the spotlight.

I have no doubt that Biden would get this colonoscopy at some point. But I think that dismissing the idea that this was a good opportunity to take the spotlight off of her scary-poor approval rating is pretty naive.

That isn't a "conspiracy theory"; it's common sense.
