Cont: The Biden Presidency (3)

According to Ron DeSantis, woke means the recognition that there is systematic injustice and the need to address it.

And it must be stopped!

Media has some weird need to paint Democratic presidents as poor on the economy, which feeds the myth that Republicans are good with economic policy. Today there is a headline that the unemployment rate "spiked" to 3.8%, for example. Within the article, they explain that the raise in the unemployment rate is due to the Fed Bank interest rate hikes. However, I'm certain that the hyperbolic headline is what Republicans will use as a talking point. Why does the media do this? Don't they understand that Republicans think the media is the enemy of the people?

"Spiked to 3.8%" is like saying "Murder Rate DOUBLES From Last Year!" then reading that there were two murders this year compared to one last year.

There is all this talk of "Biden will lose" because he has the same numbers as Hillary. "Trump won against Hillary so he will do the same now." But Trump was a newcomer to most and promised some kind of change. But many in the center see him as part of the past. You can't string along people for 8 years with the same ideas. Thefreshness is gone. So it's not a repeat of Trump and Hillary. Trump did not win battleground states with his base alone.

I had this idea that we would have a number of one term presidents. And we probably would have. But Trump refused to play along.

I think it's nonsense especially when we are talking about 14 months before the election.
Talk to me next August.

Also, 2016 Trump was on a non-stop train of straight victories, coming out of nowhere to steamroll first the Republican primary then the general.

2024 Trump has the stink of defeat all over him.

Biden is a boring and uninspiring candidate for sure, but let's not kid ourselves, he has nowhere near the same negative charisma and general repulsiveness of HRC.

Probably, TG. I remember Hillary bring effective in the debate with Trump. And I remember Harris being a poor speaker.

I don't seem to share views with most Democrats on politician. I was equally unimpressed with Reagan and Bill Clinton going further back. Hillary was more practical than Bill. A career person.

I couldn't disagree more.

Which is why so many progressives hate her. This is an interesting article on that subject from 2016:

"Why Does the Left Hate Hillary?"

I'm tired of doing autopsies on the political career of Hillary Clinton.

People who are into politics; political party fanboys and as always I used that term deliberately and with negative context, never grasp that for 99% of street level voters, you know the ones who actually matter when it comes to elections, it's at best 10% policy and 90% likeability.

Hillary carried too much of Bill's baggage into the campaign with her and yes we should have known that was going to happen, there was a vague entitlement to her whole messaging that she had "earned it" like a Presidential campaign run was just what Democrats gets after being in the game for so long like it's a gold watch, made the bone headed decision to pretend like the Blue Wall was safe, and didn't treat Trump as a viable threat but nobody did (shut up no you didn't) so I can't really blame her for that. But those are nitpicks, people have ran far worst campaigns and won

But as many have pointed out Hillary didn't lose America. She lost like a county each by razor thin margins in 3 different states. I literally think a few commercials and one or two stump speeches in front of tractor in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania could have won the whole thing.

The "Left" is the least of her problems, the problem is that damn near everyone hates her:

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the two most unpopular presidential candidates in more than 30 years of ABC News/Washington Post polling.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/08/31/poll-clinton-trump-most-unfavorable-candidates-ever/89644296/

Progressives and Republicans hate her. Not liberal enough for progressives and too liberal for Republicans. And she still got more than 3 million votes over Trump.

that would be a real cool statistic if popular vote decided anything in this country, but it doesnt.

Joe already said it well. All the left-hate in the world doesn't really matter, nobody but Hillary is responsible for her disastrous performance or her baffling decision to ignore certain midwest swing states.

That's every candidate. Every candidate is an evil centrists who is also a far left terrorists.

To be fair, attempts to smear Biden as evil seem to be falling quite flat, I don't think even most super red right wingers buy it.

The "sleepy Joe" barb seems to land more squarely than anything else, and arguing that he's over the hill and can't keep up with things is a notably different motif to him being a hell-spawn like Hillary or Obama or whatever.

It's hard to really get people worked up about Biden, because despite what I see as many faults, it's hard to deny he's generally amiable and has a certain grandpa likeability. How can you be mad at the nice old man?

If anything, his weird mannerism and old man habits make him seem a bit more sincere and human than politicians often present themselves as. I'd take a million "corn pop" stories over having to remember that time Hillary tried to claim she carries around hot sauce in her purse while trying to pander to black voters. Buried the needle on the old cringe-o-meter
