Okay, Trump is indicted. The banking crisis seems to be under control. Inflation isn't great but it's not as bad. Russia is on the ropes and Ukraine will make real progress in the late spring and summer. It's time for Biden to appoint an heir apparent and say he won't seek a second term. He can announce and not look weak. Go out on a high note.

(OPEC enters the chat)

I am worried Biden will probably have a Mid East crisis to deal with between Iran getting aggresive in Syria and Israel in total chaos.
I am surprised Iran would cause such a fuss now.

After seeing Stubby McBonespurs blow up a perfectly acceptable deal to control Iran's nuclear program (one that Iran was probably happy with), you would figure Iran would want to avoid causing problems that might help get the republicans back in power.

Frankly I think the chaos in Israel has emboldened them.

How tone-deaf is Jill Biden? After watching the NCAA Women's Basketball tournament she tweeted out:

“So I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come but, you know, I’m going to tell Joe [Biden] I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”

How many ways is this wrong?

1. By tradition, the champions get a trip to the White House, not the runners-up.

2. Iowa lost by 17 points, so saying that they played such a good game is inaccurate.

3. Politically it's a buffoonish mistake. Maybe she felt sorry for the Iowa players, but it comes off as demeaning to the LSU players who deserve their moment in the sun.

Lots of backlash coming from the Left, especially Blacks. It's not hard to notice that Iowa's star player is White, while LSU's Angel Reese is Black.

Reese, termed the suggestion "a joke" and later said, "We not coming. Period."

Of course, Biden's spokesperson was forced to issue a clarification the next morning (reportedly at 6:00 AM) that only LSU would be invited to the White House.

Whether or not Biden should not run is one question. But it would be catastrophic to name an "heir apparent." The nominee still has to win the primaries, and voters don't like being told what to do.

And as I think about it, I'm not sure there is an clear "heir apparent." Certainly not an obvious one.

When you have to pretend to get offended that the First Lady said something nice about the runners up because that's all you've got ...

Thanks Biden!

One might also consider that she might have figured Joe would follow the usual protocol anyway, and not invite both teams, and thus might have figured she could say something nice without it becoming the next silly-gate.

Remember when the Democrats allowed, without even trying to do anything about it or talking about it, the expiration of a pandemic-inspired benefit that had brought lots of children out of poverty for a while, thus dumping them right back in? Well, it's happening again, and this time it's a pandemic-inspired Medicaid provision expiring with nobody even trying to do anything about it or talking about it. So instead of kids going back to poverty, it's about 15 million people overall losing health coverage... most of whom will still be qualified after the change but will fall through the cracks in the bureaucratic process to prove it & .

For several months, I haven't bothered commenting on this Administration's series of various republicanesque behaviors, but this one stands out from their usual baseline level of republicanesquity. It brings back memories from the campaign, when Biden was already clearly & unmistakably informing everybody that he did not want us all to have medical care and the Bidenistas kept insisting that that was somehow exactly the same as wanting everybody to have medical care.

Biden has been a strong supporter of the ACA and has worked to expand it. When did he say he didn't want everybody to have access to medical care? The big problem he faces in many areas is that he can't count on Senate votes from Manchin and Sinema, and since the election he can't count on getting anything through the House. He's going to have to spend a lot of energy for the next two years just to prevent backsliding.

Look, you just don't understand. Since Republicans all vote in lock-step, the fact that Dems aren't all authoritarian lickspittles jumping when their leader says so is evidence that Dem leadership is weak and we should all vote Republican.

If Dems want our vote so bad they should just magically have the numbers to win votes in the House and magically have a way to force Manchin and Sinema to vote with them. The fact that they don't is just more evidence of how bad Dems are and why we should make the situation worse by with-holding our votes and/or voting Republican!

New Crisis in Israel .
Biden cannot dodge this issue with basically a variation of "Thoughts and Prayers" for much longer. I know it is a turd sandwich...no matter what he does, he will get people angry on him, but eating turdsanwiches is a big part of the job.

Do many American voters really care what the American president does regarding Israel?

Yeah the evangelicals might care because "that's where the end times start", but they're going to vote republican regardless. But democrats and/or independent or moderate voters? I figure that as long as Biden doesn't suggest nuking the west bank then most voters will look at the troubles there with a big "meh...".

Meh. "There's a fire in the gypsy village."

If the crisis intensifies, he can't dodge the issue for reasons of internatoan lstanding alone. He will have to do something.

I think most sensible voters these days are beginning to see through Israel.

Mountain out of a molehill. She made a simple mistake about inviting both teams but I see NO racism in this at all. Not everything is about race although some people think it is. It's like in the Meredith Kercher murder case where I see people constantly claiming Guede was convicted only because he's black and Knox and Sollecito are white. This is false; he was convicted because of the overwhelming evidence. Jill Biden's remark had nothing to do with race.
