RUssia just made new demands in the ongoing hostage negotiations.
IMHO BIden should walk away from this. Just when things are going good for him, he does not need to take the heat for what looks like a rotten deal.

And the thread on "Forward" party in this section has turned into another two minute hate againd BIden by those who think he is not "Progressive" enough. I say it again. They will never, ever, forgive Biden for beating Bernie in the primary.

WHite House to announce we got Ayman al-Zawahiri, whose been #1 on our hit list ever since Bin Laden went to his reward.
Fascinating how the GOP will try to twist this.

"Remember that dude from like seventeen crises ago? Gottem! Respect my presidency!"

--Joe Biden, probably

How long do you think the CIA has had this guy in their sights, waiting for a president to find the right moment to pull the trigger?

Amusing. "it's wrong because a prog/Democrat/lib did it."

It's not wrong at all. But progs and Democrats are wrong to play it up as some magical or courageous "win" in a war most Americans gave up on years ago.

Like, really? Twenty years on, our security services do their job, Joe Biden expects accolades?

Source on The President expecting accolades? Or was he merely announcing a successful operation?

Obviously Trump didn’t pull the trigger. Good thing Zawahiri didn’t think to sponsor the Al Qaeda Golf tournament at one of Trump’s courses. Trump said he does not know who did 9/11. He would have taken their blood money and they would have had lots of leverage over US foreign policy.

Hopefully the US State Deparments is going to ask some questions about all those promised that the Taliban made after their takeover that they would not let Terrorist groups like Al Qaida and ISIS back into Afghanistan.......
I understand part of the agreement they made with the US for the US withdrawal was they would not let the groups back. They seemes to have broken that pretty good.

It's a hell of a lot better than proclaiming we never got to the bottom of 9/11 and playing golf with the Saudis.

Ha...yep, i was just gonna comment how hysterical it is that the announcement was concurrent with T playing golf (and looking extremely old and obese) while looking like a fool in claiming we have no idea who supported 9/11 (in direct contradiction to his statements before the Saudis bought lots of things from him)

The 'go brandon' crowd is strangely quiet tonight...

The Biden administration needed a win and I don't mind saying this is a win and they deserve credit.

They were quite vocal at the golf tournament chanting their stupid meme.

A decade or 2 I might have agreed with you... Sometimes thing happen that are outside direct control of the administration (Sometimes its due to foreign events, sometimes its the result of work that started long before the administration too over, etc.) and bragging about such things gives a false sense of responsibility.

But recently we have been inundated with such false claims from the Republican side... that Trump created this great economy (when he really inherited some solid economic growth from Obama), that Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan was a failure (when he was largely following the plan laid out by Trump). And then there is the fact that simply saying Bengazi gives Republicans orgasms (when Clinton/Obama had no real responsibility over events there).

If republicans are going to cheat to assign false responsibilities, I see no reason the Democrats can't play the same game.
