It seemed fun at the time, but looking back, I have to ask: how much fun can one have by trying to pin down cranks, kooks, and charlatans.

Anyway. More importantly, let's talk earthquakes.
7.0 and greater.

In 2010, 24 earthquakes.

In 2011, 20 earthquakes.

If only the numbers had been reversed then there would have been a 20% increase. It is uncanny.
But to be fair, the original claim was 4.0 and greater.

I went back to the source that Monsieur Edge so kindly provided and cannot find the 2011 data. I looked only for a couple of minutes, so maybe it is there and I missed it.

Well, I suppose a woo can never really be "pinned down", because that would mean they would have to give up their fantasy and face reality...which doesn't happen very often.

No, no. By pinned down, I don't mean forced to face overpowering logic. I mean just getting them to clearly state what their prophecy is.

Believer: more earthquakes are coming.
Skeptic: really? when?
Believer: soon! Repent.
Skeptic: How soon?
Believer: surprisingly soon. BTW, Jesus loves us all but has to kill most of us real soon.

and then the merry-go-round makes another revolution.
